I'm not talking about your $500k/year white collar senior engineer. But at some point in the XY millions a year bracket, you can have it all and everything on top of that is kinda assholish.
Heck, I bet there are communities today where you cannot safely live if you have an interracial marriage. I don't think it's as solved as you suggest.

That seems... naive? Plenty of people carry pepper spray or a knife with them. Not even ever intending to use them as a weapon.

Like, obviously brandishing a weapon should be disallowed, but merely having anything that's a weapon? Seems fraught.
