> "Then we tried with 20 months one. Finally, accepted"

The social pressure for having "an old phone" most have been incredibly high.

Something like that happen to me on university, I had a 5 years old phone with no Whatsapp/Blackberry chat. It made me feel so left behind and even sad sometimes.

lelima··on The Amazon Is Not the Earth’s Lungs
I saw it, a bit skeptic about Will Smith but the production is high Quality, I suppose with Will the show is pointing younger generations.
lelima··on How to Build Good Software
>"3. Hire the best engineers you can."

If every single company wants that, where is he space to grow and learn from mistakes?

Maybe I'm wrong but I think those "mediocre dev's" learned a lot building a big app from scratch, solving bugs and refactoring.

lelima··on Why we like what we like
Good article, reminded me the book "the selfish gene".
lelima··on Norweigan oil fund
A friend lives in Oslo, sometimes I visit, it shock me the amount of electric vehicles, in one single street all cars parked were Tesla(not the posh area).

That's great, one question where can I use GYM or universe in the cloud with the render() option.

I've spend many hours trying to set up the environment in cloud [1] without success.

lelima··on Carbon calculator: taking one flight emits as much as many people do in a year
"Taking one return flight generates more CO2 than citizens of some countries produce in a year" (Uganda or Somalia -in article)

In Somalia 29.89 % of the people have access to electricity[1], so an average person in develop countries consume 10xxx% more electricity per year than "citizens in some countries".

We can keep it going with many more metrics, is clearly a click bait.

I might be wrong but we could use better comparison in order to make a point.

lelima··on Pirate our games, don't buy them from key resellers, say indies
Bingo, now I understand
lelima··on Pirate our games, don't buy them from key resellers, say indies
"I am a developer and I have no problems with pirates because nobody is losing money or time. I have a problem with key resellers because they cost me time while they earn money for something I made with my time."

How is that possible if you received the money from the first sale, is better to see your games in "The piratebay"?

I understand if the purchase were illegal but the article/g2a says is very low amounts and punishable.

Maybe I don't fully understand the problem or how the key's are generated.

lelima··on Monte Carlo methods – Why it's a bad idea to go to the casino
>>Gambling is the only vice where you can lose billions.

That is not far from truth, I use to work for a company that owned several Casinos, we use to have "whales" spending more than 100k each month, sometimes they lost everything so quick that we gave them 50% back or trip to Bahamas / Paris, Anything to keep them happy and coming back.

lelima··on Monte Carlo methods – Why it's a bad idea to go to the casino
That's true, We used to give free credits/ chips if they lose too much too quick. Casino's want long term relationships.

lelima··on A New Blend of Rock and Plastic Is Forming on a Portuguese Island
>>I believe the uptick in articles is a result of people becoming aware of the extent of the problem.

Totally agreed, That encourage me to stop buying/using plastic bottles. Quite challenging in Dublin where Everywhere you go water comes with plastic bottles/glasses, Ireland #1 plastic generator in Europe per person 61kg/yr [1].
