Internet Ad business has been like that for a long time with bot click & Co.
ldng··on Qwen Image 2.1
Now if we could get a Qwen-Image-Layered 2 also at 7B ... ^^

ldng··on TypeSafe AI debuts model for machines that plays Doom
Comparing Apple and Oranges ? It is not an LLM.
ldng··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
Makes you wonder why exactly Nvidia bought them, right ?
ldng··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
So, in real life, steal, raise attack dogs and blackmail and tell me, are you going to be praised by society ?

Openai and Anthropic just behave like criminals. First they orchestrate the IP theft of the millennia, then they train the equivalent of attack pitbull and let one loose and finally they blackmail to achieve monopoly through regulation or else they'll unleash the dogs ...

We don't have a problem of missing regulation, we have a problem of actually applying existing law enforcement and make both Altman and Amodei accountable for their actions.

ldng··on My business partner sent a 5K vibe-coded PR that he didn't even test
You are far from alone on that path and indeed I also wonder if it may be time to let it go.

There is a MAJOR difference between predictable generated machine code and Russian Roulette code generator.
ldng··on Rewriting in Rust
Well they should rewrite their shitty sluggish new JS UI in Rust then.

ldng··on Mythos Attempted to Social Engineer Open Source Maintainer to Merge Malware
No, it illustrates the carelessness of the UK AI Security Institute.

They even admit it : "This incident should be interpreted with caution and nuance. To some degree, our evaluation design choices and specific configurations enabled the behaviour."

ldng··on AMD acquires Taalas to boost inference performance by etching models in silicon
Ok, but the article is about etching the model, not a "whole bunch of systems". So far, I still don't if its actually doable or if it is just unsubstantiated speculation.
ldng··on AMD acquires Taalas to boost inference performance by etching models in silicon
How ? Do LLMs actually "know' when they don't "know" ?
ldng··on Ask HN: What are the viable alternatives to DuckDuckGo?
I am not shitting on the guy, I literally said : "sorry no offence to you personally". I am crossed with DDG that for sure.

And I said, many people have complained, here on HN about it, only to be met with the same damage control over and over.

But granted, I could have phrased all that differently. You're right.

ldng··on Ask HN: What are the viable alternatives to DuckDuckGo?
For about the last to years I've seen the bubble effect creeping in. And, sorry no offence to you personally, to be blunt, I'm not interested in damage control.

When I make a generic search unrelated to a hobby I have and I get as top answer something about my hobby, it's a very red and very flashing red flag of bubble effect.

The nail in the coffin has happened this weekend when some un-asked for auto-correct prevented me from searching what I wanted. The moment a tool gets in the way (whatever the good intentions are), I drop the tool. And, no, most of the time DDG don't know better than me.

Several people have been calling your founder on this, here, me included, and have been ignored. DDG might not need early adopter anymore. Fine by me, I'll move on.

Sorry for the bluntness but the truth is you already lost my as a user.

ldng··on Ask HN: What are the viable alternatives to DuckDuckGo?
You're reading that incorrectly. I disapprove of the bubble effect.

I specified I'm not interested in chabot because I'm looking for a search engine and some people tend to conflate the two. I prefer first hand information, hopefully filtered for spam and slop but not "tailored" by a bubble that is more often mistaken than not.

ldng··on Ask HN: What are the viable alternatives to DuckDuckGo?
It's the bubble I have the most issue with. Second-guessing is annoying. This month is getting worst with unasked for auto-correct that, of course, is wrong and end up not allowing me to search exactly what I want because DDG supposedly "know better". It does not.
ldng··on Ask HN: What are the viable alternatives to DuckDuckGo?
And that's exactly why I moved. And now they broke that trust.
ldng··on Ask HN: What are the viable alternatives to DuckDuckGo?
Because I don't trust them anymore ?
ldng··on Ask HN: What are the viable alternatives to DuckDuckGo?
Interesting. I'll give Ecosia/Qwant a go than as I'm not really interested in opting-out of a bubble.

Edit: hum, sadly, Qwant integration to Firefox seems to be broken at the moment.

ldng··on Ask HN: What are the viable alternatives to DuckDuckGo?
Exactly. I don't like search engine second-guessing what I'm looking for, more often than not it's a miss.
ldng··on Ask HN: Have LLMs Plateaued?
Agents are the proof that LLMs Plateaued : you need the loop to get further.
