Despite all the European love, most of Europe (and rather, most of the world) is pretty poor compared to US.
Are you sure it's not just a coping mechanism (I can't find the right word, sorry), for those who didn't get those salaries to say this line?
Even in PHX my company offers 95k as starting base for junior devs.
Anyone manage to at least start? If so, where? I mostly forgot my university level science courses.
This is tremendously helpful for people like me who forget stuff often.
a local model that can analyze the videostream/files and answer questions would be great.
I distinctly remember seeing it somewhere (I think it was here), but I can't find what the app was called, despite all teh gooling.
and yours did? This comment, Christian?
>>I swear, this feels like people get paid to write positive stuff about him?

>you're just snarky and nothing else
Please re-read your own comment. See above.
>So get off my back
Absolutely not. You said something that was decidedly ignorant(how dare people praise x good thing done by omg horrible y people!), and I called you out on it. I expect better discussion and people skills from someone who holds position of a CTO rather than just "haha you're all paid shills!"
In many countries, teaching is a government position that is pretty impossible to get fired from. Unfortunately, just like in any profession, there are those in teaching who find it that they dislike it but still trudge along because nice benefits (not talking about US), much to the detriment of their students.
We talk about 'passion' a lot in a number of fields, but imho teaching is the only profession where you _NEED_ it.
(Note: not a dig at you per se, more the "I'm going to become a farmer" people because they can keep a monsterra alive)
Is this why he deleted all instances of the said tweet?
Hah. FWIW, it's a fork of searX. https://github.com/searx/searx
I've really soured on him when he literally went "I'm going to fix twitter search, hire me elon" and then went to public saying "Hey, want an internship? Fix it, and then MIT license your code(so he could use it lol), and maybe we can talk - oh btw I have no real authority to give anyone an internship."
He might be a brilliant programmer and problem solver, but that incident left a very sour "Grifter" vibes.
Right, but wouldn't that be similar? Obviously there are going to be people who are going to say "screw it, I'm going to live like this" on a basic survival-wage UBI, but I doubt a majority would want to.
I mean, UBI never meant "Extravagant money." It has always meant something akin to "basic standards for survival."
The entire idea from what I understand is that you should be able to survive just fine, not have it pay for your 98" micro OLED :P
> the longer you stay away from gainful employment, the more marketable skills you lose.
I sorta relate to this as someone who's been coasting by at my current job for last year or so. But I'm also working to upskill myself actively. You bring a good point but I don't know what teh solution to that would be.
It's strange that you'd bring this false equivalence.
>I can see why a government might want to license taxi drivers.
Applying for a taxi-driver license is a whole another different thing than just having taxi mafia run your entire taxi industry. Can the said uber drivers even apply for a taxi license?
You don't work if you are getting 0 rides because they're too expensive for end-user. What wages?
Shouldn't you be wondering why is it illegal for you to do the first thing rather than the last?
Why shouldn't you be able to start what you call a 'gypsy taxi business.' what's the need for arresting you? Is it that authoritarian of a nation?
