Yes it is stabilising, IME. I’d recommend trying again.

Fresh fruit and veg, nuts, and other fresh things. Thing is, modern farming and distribution practices have negatively affected the magnesium content. Drinking water also used to naturally contain more minerals but in many places is removed to cause less issues with plumbing and because “hard water” also makes it harder for soap to lather. Absorption also depends on vitamin D, so if you’re low in D, you won’t absorb as much magnesium. I have also read that magnesium is required by the body to make GABA and melatonin; supplements other commenters are mentioning.

I was quoted AUD$300 for the service on my Seiko, so I got it back and learned to service it myself :)

I also discovered the other day that you can get high-speed networking between two computers with just a thunderbolt cable. It showed up as a 20G connection anyway.

Now I know two mathematician jokes. The other one is "A mathematician is a device for converting coffee into theorems."

These rich and colourful photos remind me of an internal battle I’m having with my own amateur photography. I’ve always aspired to this kind of styling, but lately been intrigued by how you can sometimes make photos subjectively better by muting the colours, making them less true to life, reducing the contrast, etc. Advocates for that style would call the photos in the blog post “cartoonish”. I guess there’s a place for both styles. For what it’s worth, I think the photos in the blog post are great.

Or how about the Danish “får” (sheep) and “ø” (Island)?
l8rlump··on I'm spoiled by Apple Silicon but still love Framework
I think it's worse than that, at least for the AMD-based Frameworks. Ostensibly, S3 sleep isn't supported by the CPU.

l8rlump··on High vitamin B6 doses over a long period could cause irreversible nerve damage
That's interesting. The product I looked up has 50mg of the pyridoxine hydrochloride form of vitamin B6: https://www.bioceuticals.com.au/products/ultra-muscleze

Interesting that they ostensibly make a version with the P-5-P form. I've read that the P-5-P form is less associated with neuropathy. As a personal anecdote, 50mg of pyridoxine hydrochloride daily for a couple of weeks gave me nothing except numb fingers (which resolved after a few weeks). However, 12mg of P-5-P with my magnesium supplement has been life-changing so far. Been taking 350mg of magnesium daily for a year or more but only when adding the P-5-P with it, do I have relief from cramps.

Anyone in the know: is there some condition that would explain this?

l8rlump··on macOS in QEMU in Docker
New to containers. How easy would it be to run only the OSX Reminders and Calendar apps, or as stripped-down as possible a system to get these running without the overhead of the OS? The webapp versions of these are crippled compared to the OSX/iOS apps.
l8rlump··on The darker side of being a doctor (2017)

l8rlump··on Losing my son
This is timely. We just lost our unborn son unexpectedly. He had been diagnosed with some issues with the heart and other organs. We were gearing up for multiple surgeries, a high-care situation, and him potentially not lasting until teens.

We didn't get to make memories with him, or see who he would grow to become. This is a blessing and a curse. But I believe that you and I will both meet our sons again one day in a place where there is no sickness, sadness, or death.

Romans 8:16-17

[16] The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [17] and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Everyone suffers in this life. The choice is whether to suffer with him or without him.

l8rlump··on SanDisk Extreme Pro failures result from design flaw, says researcher
The firmware “fix” sounds suspiciously similar to their handling of a similar issue on the WD Blue SA510 SSD’s, of which I’m on my third, after the previous two failed in less than 12 months. Didn’t they start using some new 3D NAND chips? I wonder if there’s a flaw in those chips. They would be in use on many different products so may explain the similar failures?

I first heard of these cars in a story from a Croatian friend. He said they had to be careful where they parked them because pigs would like to eat the body. So it seems that it’s a real thing.

I've had issues with WD Blue recently. MacOS intermittently wouldn't boot on a 3-month-old drive. I wonder how much is shared between this product and the Sandisk, given that WD now own Sandisk?
