l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Ask HN: Any weird tips for weight loss?
There is a powdered food product called Keto Chow that you mix with heavy cream to scale up calories. Pretty easy to track calories with that.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Marxism vs. Liberalism: An Interview Between J.V. Stalin and H.G. Wells (1934)
"Stalin : There is no, nor should there be, irreconcilable contrast between the individual and the collective, between the interests of the individual person and the interests of the collective. There should be no such contrast, because collectivism, socialism, does not deny, but combines individual interests with the interests of the collective."

Horrifying.

The recent Joe Rogan extravaganza brought this all out as well. I know nothing about virology. I listened to that controversial virologist on his podcast and still know so little. But then on HN it seems there are apparently numerous experts on the subject, or so they think, who are dead sure censoring of the dangerous Dr. Malone is necessary. It seemed every bit as tribal as twitter, but with a better vocabulary.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Joe “just conversations” Rogan defends misinformation like a classic grifter
I'm curious: what garbage fact or facts can you remember from the Malone podcast?
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Joe “just conversations” Rogan defends misinformation like a classic grifter
Did Dr. Malone not have facts and studies at his disposal?
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Joe “just conversations” Rogan defends misinformation like a classic grifter
Galileo was a quack in his time. Most great scientists were quacks who were opposed by orthodoxy. There is nothing wrong with having Robert Malone on to counter government approved science in a podcast. He's not giving him equal time. He's giving them a modicum of time in the face of overwhelming government approved virological perspective.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on The Society of the Spectacle
Well continental philosophy is currently turning the western world on its head so I don't think there will be reconciliation any time soon.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on The Society of the Spectacle
I think analytic departments would disagree with you. Also, what poetry does is defamiliarize language. It's impact is emotional. It isn't philosophy.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on The Society of the Spectacle
Sometimes I wonder if crit theory had a natural evolution to serve as a foundation for a million PhD theses. Really these people ever should have had this much to say. Also it seems like philosophy birthed via poetry. These people should have just written poetry.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on An open letter on E.O. Wilson's legacy
Let it be known Lewontin was a Marxist and as such abhorred nature over nurture. A blank slate is essential to Marxist philosophy.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Billionaires back new media firm to combat disinformation
The excesses of humanities academia are kind of why we are in this national pickle. A generation or two has slowly been indoctrinated by the ideas of corrupt French intellectuals from the 50's onward. We're just seeing now it all finally catch on.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on OnlyFans drops planned porn ban
I seriously thought that onlyfans was catered to porn.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Charlie Watts has died
There's going to be a lot of people who rose to fame in the 60's fame-boom who are going to drop like flies soon.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Warning Signals for Collapse of The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation
Yeah. It just doesn't cohere with human nature. Capitalism at least manages. Communism seems like something that would happen maybe post-singularity and after scarcity is solved. And we'd be like homogenous spacefarers like the aliens depicted in our stories.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Get Ready for the 'No-Buy' List
Have they ever partnered with the government to such an extent?
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Get Ready for the 'No-Buy' List
Thank you. However, the article is written by David Sacks.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Facebook is now claiming official CDC.gov links are “False Information”
The original assertion I was responding to was that he was touting it as a cure.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Facebook is now claiming official CDC.gov links are “False Information”
Yes. Perhaps he shouldn't have been taking it. But he certainly didn't say, as the person I was responding to clearly asserted, that it is a cure for Corona. And here we are, you and I, getting 0'd out by people who apparently can't read. And people apparently who go along with whatever is printed in left-wing media without fact checking.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Facebook is now claiming official CDC.gov links are “False Information”
He didn't recommend hydroxy as a cure. He was advocating studies at the time that were supportive of its preventative effectiveness. As those weren't enough to justify using it the left media jumped on it with extreme hyberbole and you bought it with your lack of skepticism I assume. States that have ended lockdowns early, like Florida, haven't done any worse than locked states and saved their economies. Lockdowns are unproven as effective. Trump did not "actively" reject use of masks; he simply didn't fervently promote them as the left wished. And for that matter, Texas ended masks very early to the seething disdain of the left and then nothing happened. So...
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on 'Arthur,' the longest-running kids animated series, is ending
I mean... you gotta kinda narrow it down at some point, considering this is an American site posted on by mostly Americans, in English.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Business should be booming, if only there were enough workers for the job
Honestly if restaurants went into detail about what is entailed in the job they probably get even less applicants lol. It's tough work. Often no healthcare or benefits.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on The art of reading non-fiction non-linearly
You're being way too sophisticated with your analysis here.
l-_l-_l-_lo_ol··on Bob Dylan lays down what killed rock n roll (2016)
In the age of computation I think the real dichotomy is between rhythm-focused loop-based composition and music made by people playing instruments. It's easy to see why hip-hop and technology is winning: it's easier music to make. Why compose minutes of music when you can compose 20 seconds and loop it? Or sample it altogether? Why spend thousands of ours learning an instrument?
