I would venture to guess that a lot of HN readers pay for news from the various journalists on platforms like Substack.

Two things can be true at the same time: SF has declined immensely and the killer in this case was not a criminal homeless addict.

If the US government had control of an app in China or Russia used by tens of millions of impressionable young people do any of you really think they would not take advantage of that to tip the scales and slowly affect political opinions and other outcomes?

Very interesting. Doing any work in the short term rental PMS space?

Can you point to where I said Fox is a reliable news source?

Fixed that for you: "CNN is not a good source for news"

And with the amount of venture debt that SVB issues if more startups start blowing up this could just be the tip of the iceberg.

It can be useful for job seeking and maintaining contact with professional connections, but reading the feed full of self congratulatory and/or virtue signaling posts is a complete waste of time.

What are the odds Dr Martin Luther King would have been hired at Berkeley?

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

What do you use it for?

Thank you!

Ten thousand or so Canadians who lost access to their bank accounts for criticizing their government would like to have a chat with you.

This is the LA Times, what do you expect? This is the same paper that called a conservative black gubernatorial candidate in California "the black face of white supremacy".

Suppressed subsonic 300 blackout is pretty darn close to the movies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AUDVoGOCxw

This makes me think of the Silicon Valley scene where the guys are just sitting on the roof "resting and vesting". "Lunch? Arby's on El Camino I'll drive. Nah let's walk it'll take longer."

My gas stove identifies as electric.

They'll have to come and take my propane lacanche stove / oven. I live in a very rural mountain area and need to be able to cook when the power goes out. I've been looking into installing a backup generator but they are very expensive and getting an electrician to return a call is like winning the lottery. I have a cutover switch so I can run my well pumps off a small honda generator when the power goes out but without my stove that isn't much use.

What's the over under on the number of days before he's Epsteined?

Just remember they were 'fiery but mostly peaceful' protests according to the mainstream media.

Like the experts who closed beaches in CA and filled in skate parks with sand so children couldn't get exercise and sunlight? Those experts?

"two weeks to flatten the curve", "if you get the vaccine you won't get covid", "the vaccine is 95% effective", "the vaccine is 80% effective", "the vaccine is 50% effective", "well you'll still get covid but you won't spread it to others", "well actually you can spread it to others"

I think a lot of the resentment comes out of "the experts" changing their narratives a dozen times about the efficacy of the vaccines over the last 3 years while browbeating anyone who voiced any amount of skepticism.

And the systems were overwhelmingly used to throttle one type of political viewpoint.

I stopped reading at "focus on mad-cool developments in clothes and home jawns"

The same type of person who likely is on the HOA board for their neighborhood in order to create their own pathetic little fiefdom and sense of power.

I use it pretty extensively as well. It just works and is cheap. Can't imagine using an open source alternative.

SBF also the second largest donor to the US Dem party after Soros, nothing to see here. https://fortune.com/2022/11/10/sam-bankman-fried-ftx-joe-bid...

I honestly can't even fathom having a job that requires me to be on Twitter all day. It sounds horrific.

If only there were a way to avoid being sent to a maximum security prison......
