kxter··on Show HN: Bonvago.com – Shows hidden hotel discounts and bonus rewards
Really appreciate you taking the time—means a lot. I also noticed some airport codes don't work. The limitation is actually the destination names API here which is frustrating. Next iteration will try and solve this issue.
kxter··on What if you could do it all over? (2020)
If I could do it all over again, I would say screw the startup, the money, the IPO and all that crap. I'd run away to an island and spend maximum time with my first partner - who I lost far too soon in life. No money will ever bring them back. The time lost was not worth it. It's the biggest regret in my life that can still bring me to tears as a write this. I would give up everything to go back and tell my younger self to change that one fateful decision.
kxter··on Show HN: I build one absurd web project every month
Ok the lucky cat got me! I just had to install and see it for myself. So cute. Made me smile. :)
kxter··on Globally Based – all-in-one platform for travel management (early access)
agreed
kxter··on Globally Based – all-in-one platform for travel management (early access)
Let's hope they didn't actually waste money building this. Lets break this down.

- Travefy already does itineraries and has an API.

- Who needs SIM Activation? We all have virtual sims and global roaming.

- Visa submissions cannot be automated - tricky government websites.

- Local time, weather and air quality? iPhone does that.

- Idea for a destination? Ask Chatgpt

- Airline Check-in? Airlines have moved to auto-check-in

- Hotel Check-in? Front desk in most international hotels needs you to be present to show passport and credit card with PIN.

Nothing truly useful here. Do some more brainstorming.

Usually I just do a Google Sheet for a waitlist. LOL
kxter··on You're Invited to Test My Hotel Booking Engine
Thanks for the feedback. It’s actually kickoffpages UI, so not my doing. :/ Just a placeholder for now. But tested it on mobile and it looked fine.
kxter··on SVB's programmatic payment systems are back online
No more small providers. Going with the big leagues going forward. Hello J.P. Morgan Chase.
kxter··on 112 Gripes About the French
Amazing read, to get a glimpse of 'gripes' of Americans back in the day. Reminds me of the whole "Freedom Fries' fiasco. Times may change. Some gripes stay.
kxter··on Toonify Yourself
I look awful! LOL guess i dont have a future as a toon. LOL
kxter··on Netflix Saves Kids from Up to 400 Hours of Commercials a Year
or Kingdom Hearts, or Mortal Combat... ;)
kxter··on Netflix Saves Kids from Up to 400 Hours of Commercials a Year
I haven't had cable in over 15 years. I recently tried Pluto.TV on Firestick from my usual Netflix, CBS App watching routine. I quickly realized how many darn commercials regular cable viewers have to suffer through. The repetition is insanity. cringes in disgust
kxter··on Americans can opt out of airport facial recognition
If you are Nexus/Global Entry and use Clear they already have your finger print, biometrics and retina scan. Might as well add facials to that... no wait that sounds wrong. LOL
kxter··on Mailchimp expands from email to full marketing platform
I love Mailchimp I really do. And at first glance it sounds exciting. But ya gotta love how an across-the-board price increase is always sold as "added features". Must be some Jetsmarter people jumped ship and went to Mailchimp. :))) ...joke.
kxter··on Listen to Wikipedia
Listen to the English version and then the Chinese Version - you will see the Great Firewall of China in action. :/
kxter··on Listen to Wikipedia
Ok. This is cool... :)
kxter··on Bay Area Living in Shipping Containers
They should look into the container park in downtown Las Vegas (Tony Hsieh's pet project) which has been immensely successful - city codes and all! :)
