kuzux··on US states: If they were countries
Might be a reference to the Monty Python's Finland song, or just coincidence.
kuzux··on Did Pascal beat C++ at the 2010 International Olympiad in Informatics?
The real problem is, the time limit for most questions is 1 second, and pretty much all of managed environments take significant times to start, so they're out. But why ocaml or haskell aren't available, i don't know
kuzux··on Ask HN: What's your computer setup?
I have a 15" Dell Inspiron 6400, given by my school for free 3 years ago. 1.6 GHz Centrino Duo 2gb ram ubuntu 10.04 gnome+xmonad as window manager internal hard disk space is absurdly low(80gb, I think), I have a 500gb external drive, though.
kuzux··on Google Chrome OS to Launch in Autumn
have you ever heard of https://bespin.mozillalabs.com/ ?
kuzux··on [dead]
America run by Steve Jobs would be kind of dystopic, I'd say.
kuzux··on Ask HN: From what countries do people use HN beside USA?
Kyrgyzystan seems to be too high on the list. Any guesses?
kuzux··on iPad jailbreak after less than 24 hours
Didn't know that. At least in Turkey, pretty much every iphone is jailbroken, including those owned by regular, non-power users. Actually, the only non-jailbroken iPhone i've seen in Turkey belonged to an exchange student in our school, from US.
kuzux··on Let's Do Some Engineering Pt. 1: Design Patterns
First of all, ActiveRecord is not a GoF pattern and its intent is not trying to implement the lacking dynamic features in static languages. Thus, it's not trivial or a source of unneeded complexity in ruby. And so is MVC(Actually, MVC is quite different from the other "Design Patterns" as it covers the entire architecture of the system instead of just a part of it).

The point is, most GoF patterns(like factory, builder, strategy, facade etc.) are trivial in "dynamic" languages like ruby and lisp and strictly applying those static-language-origin patterns cause nothing but unneeded complexity in ruby.

kuzux··on Apple’s Spat With Google Is Getting Personal
What he meant was, Mac's concept of gui was not original, it was pretty much based on Xerox's. So, even if Microsoft meant to copy the mac, they actually copied Xerox Parc.
kuzux··on Show HN: gleeBox, keyboard glee for your web
Searching bookmarks are available by default in vimperator. You can easily create a yubnub command and assign a hotkey for it, i think. And since vimperator can execute any javascript code from its command line, you can execute bookmarklets.
kuzux··on Why "ls *.c" is at least dumb, and possibly dangerous
so, rm -rf / is not dangerous?
kuzux··on The Geek "Must Do Before You Die" Checklist
I've already done 4 of them at the age of 17! (1,3,6,7)
kuzux··on Why would someone use OpenDNS on a per-PC basis? I must be missing something.
Well, in Turkey, it's used for accessing (most of)the censored sites
kuzux··on Forget Starbucks, work at the library instead
I might be in one of the weirdest places to do stuff, a kebab house in turke. i'm not "working" here, i'm currently in holiday and that was the only place i could find free WiFi
kuzux··on Ask HN: Where do you live?
so do I.
kuzux··on Ask HN: How did you really learn a foreign language?
I'm pretty sure it' too late for this advice but starating at a young age(in my case, 7) surely helps
kuzux··on Ask HN: What's the Browser Distribution for your site?
why is opera so popular in russia?
kuzux··on Command and Conquer 4 requires always-on internet
I have problems with my connection pretty often and mostly that's when i play games - when i'm offline.
kuzux··on Poll: How many generations removed from immigration are you?
3 generations. My paternal grand-grandparents came to Turkey from Razgrad,Bulgaria and my maternal grand-grandparents came from Thessalonica.
kuzux··on Ask HN: Why Python over Ruby?
php syntax is much more perl-y than ruby
kuzux··on New IE8 marketing materials
Customizability is a "tie" between ie, firefox and chrome? chrome(current stable version) is one of the least customizable browsers i've ever seen!
