kubiiii··on Not a protocol fault: MtGox and transaction malleability
A design issue is not a bug is it? This design issue seems to have lead to the bug in Mt Gox implementation though.
kubiiii··on What Is NASA for?
But then Chris Hadfield made his invaluable youtube videos to justify the cost.
kubiiii··on Is there logic behind France’s rumored €1 Billion Google Tax?
This is hypothetical. Irish people do have network infrastructures and French people do have a huge amount of redundant/useless bureaucrats.

But still, a country lowering taxes to a point where it would attract most of the income of companies operating throughout EU is acting like a parasite, the host being the EU, the blood being the income.

Lowering corporate taxes should be made at the EU level. Because the EU was not intended as a playing field with EU countries competing against eachothers but rather as something more symbiotic where countries specificities would help compete against the rest of the world.

kubiiii··on Is there logic behind France’s rumored €1 Billion Google Tax?
Let's imagine the following situation. A big EU country heavilly invests in digital technologies and ensures all of its citizens have access to fiber for exemple.

This kind of investment would heavilly rely on taxes, but would also create the ideal conditions for internet giants to make lots of business.

These internet giants chose to put their headquarter in a small EU country that chose to lower the taxes to attract companies. This country doesnt care for fiber, and doesnt make investment at all, but its no big deal, it only represents a tiny part of the EU ppl.

This is a nonsense to pay taxes in a country for business made in another one. Unfortunately this nonsense is part of the UE.

kubiiii··on Bitcoin hash-rate exceeds total computing power of all the world’s computers
Breaking news : a single caterpillar excavator has more excavating power than all the toy shovels in the world together. I still find the approach of the article interesting, but what would be relevant is to compare the power consumption of the bitcoins miners compared to the power consumption of all the personal computers in the world.
kubiiii··on Journalists at Sochi are live-tweeting their hotel experiences
In France, since the Albertville olympic games (1992), the local ski venues are much more accessible (thanks to tunnels), and you still can use the bobsleigh track. So it really depends if the infrastructures were thought only for the olympic games or with a broader view.
kubiiii··on Why is the opt-in toolbar scam still acceptable?
There is even worse, my mom installed Kies the other day from a website which was better referenced than samsung's (Kies being the synchronizing app for samsung devices for ppl wondering). It cost her € 10 through sms payment. Well maybe it was some sponsored link but in the end its just the same for "elder" people who dont have a minimum tech background (or common sense you might add). Anyway no other website than the official developper / distributor one should come first when doing such a straightforward search. This leads to a terrible customer experience for both google and samsung along with some easy earned money someone who doesnt deserve it.
kubiiii··on How in-app purchases have destroyed the game industry
Would you do that again? (If $400 is a non negligible amount of money for you). Or would you rather avoid temptation by not installing such games in the first place?
kubiiii··on How in-app purchases have destroyed the game industry
What is incredible is that they don't even throw in the fully unlocked game to a user who would pay £70 which is > the price of a next gen AAA game.
kubiiii··on How in-app purchases have destroyed the game industry
A used or budget version of DK was easy to find for a few bucks back in maybe 98 or 99 thats still the old days.
kubiiii··on Keepod Unite: $7 PC to bridge the digital divide
> It's not going to "bridge the digital divide" as it still needs an x86 processor and a monitor.

Cool thing is that we occidental ppl send plenty of old computers to make gigantic piles of dangerous trash in poor countries. By sending USB sticks along they might prove useful.

kubiiii··on Thirty Years of Mac [video]
The only good reason to burn karma is for the lulz. (i upvoted).
kubiiii··on Google outed me
Maybe more a kind of protection if the mere reason for being fired is the outing as a transgender. In France a pregnant woman has some level of protection concerning her job.
kubiiii··on Kim Dotcom's new music streaming service
Steve Albini added figures to that : http://www.negativland.com/news/?page_id=17 Pretty famous & old article but still informative.
kubiiii··on Taxi protest in Paris turns to guerrilla warfare as Uber car attacked on freeway
Thank you for the link. The licence value is the key reason why taxis are pissed. It is also the reason why they organised taxis scarcity, keeping the licence price up, and the service terrible. They kind of created the ideal conditions for alternative solutions developpment. But a proper way of recouping their investment should be provided to them rather than articially distinguishing the Uber businesses and taxis businesses. Its basically the same.
kubiiii··on Taxi protest in Paris turns to guerrilla warfare as Uber car attacked on freeway
I think the protest is not directed towards the right direction, but Parisian taxi drivers need to buy a license which is like 200 k. They see this investment go down the drain as new businesses like uber appear.
kubiiii··on Taxi protest in Paris turns to guerrilla warfare as Uber car attacked on freeway
You forgot to mention they only shower once a week. Forgot the sarcasm warning.
kubiiii··on The Space Monkey Upgrade Scam
Great answer. It drives me (midly) mad to see overspecialized gear being produced such as asics miners and such. Promoting reuse is a good approach.
kubiiii··on [dead]
Maybe its a perk to compensate low wages.
kubiiii··on 92 Facebook Apps Have Access To My Account
Don't get me wrong, I find your site useful, and must I add, well designed. Maybe you could ask the user if he wishes to revoke the authorizations for your own app after scanning.
kubiiii··on What happens if authorities seize your laptop?
Make sure to add some shameful evidences on the innocent Windows install to make it more convincing. "Sh.. you found my porn folder! Well done guys".
kubiiii··on Gate Tower Building
There was a video games museum at the top of the building, it is closed now, only boring offices remain.
kubiiii··on 92 Facebook Apps Have Access To My Account
"Start cleaning : this plug in can access all of your data on all websites tabs and navigation activity." Kind of ironic. Pretty useful anyway.
kubiiii··on The Space Monkey Upgrade Scam
There is a huge gap between the yearly fees of option 1 & 2. I might miss something but if the business model was based on ~ $10/month/user how come it is still viable with ~ $ 4?
kubiiii··on The Space Monkey Upgrade Scam
I was wondering why people wanted to own a device that would be useless without the rest of the solution.
kubiiii··on Common charger for all mobile phones on the way in Europe
The problem is that a very versatile connector (lightning or usb) is also used to make something as trivial as charging a battery. The UE rightfully wishes to standardize the battery charging part only but that means either adopting a standard connector which would be a regression for some constructors or split the functionnalities in a transparent way from the user POV.
kubiiii··on Testing the ‘Apple tax’
Common observation also : if you build a car from scratch using parts you'll end up with a much higher price. If a competitor builds a similar PC with the same sales volume, enabling the same bulk discount, the comparison would be valid.
kubiiii··on My Experience in the Educational Apps Market – 2013 report
Also liked on facebook. Finding quality (educational)(french) apps is a pain in the derche on the app store. I have already installed/uninstalled dozen of crappy apps. I think there is also room in the web or traditional french medias for success stories like yours. Did you get some exposition?
kubiiii··on My Experience in the Educational Apps Market – 2013 report
Great find, I will try out your apps with my daughter. Congratulations on your success. Escpacially since I never saw theses apps promoted on the app store. Bonne continuation.
kubiiii··on RSA Key Extraction via Low-Bandwidth Acoustic Cryptanalysis
They have an electribe ER1 and they modulate so that's gold.
