krossitalk··on Show HN: I made a website to search for half loaves of bread
> don't be sending take-down notices. This is a very niche and tiny thing and is unlikely to put any strain on your servers.

I smell a HN hug of death incoming

krossitalk··on Using hamburger menus? Try sausage links (2019)
Yes, these are Chips exactly (especially when scrolled horizontally, ala YouTube mobile Home page). https://material.io/components/chips
krossitalk··on Show HN: I made a web game called Almost Pong
Missed a golden opportunity to name it "Flappy Pong".
krossitalk··on Fetch API has landed into Node.js
As someone browser focused this surprised me. I've been using fetch() for years now.
krossitalk··on Fuite: a tool for finding memory leaks in web apps
Having to point at a URL and crawl for pages seems awkward. Is there something I can directly integrate into my app? How would it deal with a login page?
krossitalk··on MobaXterm free Xserver and tabbed SSH client for Windows
My goto terminal emulator on Windows. Without a doubt, Moba is what SSH on windows has been missing.
krossitalk··on On Building Glue Systems
This starts out strong and then trails off without a real conclusion or opinion on glue systems. A bad build system or lack of maintenance can happen to any project.
krossitalk··on Private brand checks a.k.a. `#foo in obj`
This wasn't necessary as a syntax addition before Class keywords. Doing JS the old fashioned way you would simply leave #foo inside a scope only A could access. IIFE (Immediately invoked function expressions) made a lot more sense to me than this Class restructuring. Which is all the more frustrating because it's just that, a restructuring. The JS fundamentals of scopes haven't changed.
krossitalk··on Malloc as a Service
I expected the page to crash by free'ing $4 :)
krossitalk··on YouTuber creates fake Nirvana song using artificial intelligence
I didn't like this as much as some other AI songs, notably Metallica [1]. It seems this model wasn't trained long enough as this song is the In Bloom/Breed riff with some lyrics and the general structure of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

krossitalk··on How to manage HTML DOM with vanilla JavaScript only?
This is a really great set of demos! The resizable table columns really irks me because I spent so long trying to make something similar and it ended up being hundreds of lines longer.
krossitalk··on Some thoughts on simple state machines using x86_64 / assembly
Would love to see the source of those macros
krossitalk··on How I made a 3D game in 2 KB of JavaScript
Thanks. Wish the controls were more obvious. After learning this the game is actually quite playable.
krossitalk··on Payment Request API
What problem is it solving? What's so bad about entering my credit card details?
krossitalk··on BlurHash: Algorithm to generate compact representation of an image placeholder
Interesting bug on the demo page:

- Upload any image

- Now upload a transparent png

- It does not clear the previous image, layering them together

- It hashes the combination picture. Super neat!

krossitalk··on Introducing Increment subscriptions
Swapping paper for water isn't much better for the environment long term.
krossitalk··on Terrain rendering algorithm in less than 20 lines of code
Same here. Does this only work with firefox? Edit - nope doesn't work at all. Same with the 'distance' slider.
krossitalk··on Improving Form Controls in Microsoft Edge and Chromium
Except the "smiley face in the top-right to Send Feedback" can't be found anywhere on the page.
krossitalk··on Show HN: Free React template that makes “Admin Dashboards” easy
My gripe with react-admin and to a lesser extent Semantic UI is their idea of also writing a full REST api layer. Just give me a good front end tool and let me handle my data layer!
krossitalk··on Show HN: Every shortcut for designers, developers and writers in one place
Each app needs to show the name of the app. I use vs code every day and didn't recognize that logo off the top of my head. I had to click back and forth on each logo for the ones I don't use. I get the gist though, if you're quickly looking for shortcuts presumably you know what the logo looks like.
krossitalk··on The Story of the Ping Program (1997)
No, the link he provided in the document to the original PING source. It's supposed to go to http://ftp.arl.army.mil/pub/ping.shar But ends up at https://www.arl.army.mil/www/default.cfm
krossitalk··on The Story of the Ping Program (1997)
Sadly the link to the source redirects to the US Army home page now. Anyone got a link?
krossitalk··on Ask HN: Are Lucene/Solr/ES Still Used for Search?
Making use of the ELK stack currently
krossitalk··on JSON Resume – 5th Birthday and New Features
One of the examples has a number of missing values (,,) and the literal 'undefined', starting around the Education section https://registry.jsonresume.org/beeman
