kpao··on Show HN: Our flight sim for iOS: Infinite Flight
Yeah, that's pretty much the plan, only support the big devices. That also gives us an excuse to buy them all (who doesn't like unboxing a new toy :)

We'll probably get to it later this year, my main phone is a Galaxy Nexus and I'm bummed to not be able to fly with it :P

The big iOS Gaming Blogs pretty much ignored us :) Most of those who mentioned us were flight sim related. It's easy for us to get featured in those sites since we're in a niche market.

One thing that helped a somewhat was to send them promo codes directly.

It's a painful task, sending all those emails and keeping track of those who replied, ignored, bounced back, etc... :)

What app did you guys release?

Good luck to you!

Two things that keep us from going on Android today:

- We've been porting/optimizing for the last 5 months, we'd like to code a few features :)

- Android fragmentation is scary

We're doing everything ourselves now, and it's taking more time every week. We'll see how things evolve, but since we're only two devs, we might have to do something about that at some point.

TIL, thanks :)

Thanks, my HN posting skills are pretty basic :-/

Well, if you exclude MonoGame, most of the platform specific code is some window handling (showing messages boxes). The accelerometer, touchpanel, etc... is all handled by MonoGame and even though we contributed to it, it's not technically the core of the flight sim. That's what I counted in the 100% :)

For the UI, it's a custom toolkit we built on our own, so it's 100% similar for both platforms.

Thanks, let me know what you think :)

We might do it later this year but we have no timeline yet.
kpao··on Ask HN: Are you developing anything for Windows mobile phone 7?
I am working on Infinite Flight. It's a civilian flight simulator much like FSX, Flight Unlimited and Pro Pilot. We're currently porting to iOS though, but using Mono Touch and MonoGame, so the code base is mostly the same.
kpao··on Windows Store Revenue Split
Couldn't you use restoreCompletedTransactions to get the already purchased items?
kpao··on Windows Phone is currently five times more profitable for us than the iPhone
We're porting our game (Infinite Flight) from Windows Phone to the iPhone and we're expecting much better returns on iOS.

We will have more data when it comes out in a couple of months.

kpao··on Android Has Market Share, But Windows Phone Has Mindshare
I think this is going to change. I was at an AT&T store this morning and saw one of the sales rep taking a quizz with questions about WP7 and Mango. If all the sales reps go through it, maybe it'll change the vision they have and what they tell customers.
kpao··on Ask HN: What are you working on?
I'm working on a Flight Simulator for Windows Phone 7.

It's a civilian Flight Sim, build in C# with XNA. I've been working on the PC version for 7 years as a side project...

Release in a couple of weeks if we get rid of the last few bugs in time.

kpao··on AT&T trying to crackdown on unauth. tethering
Same for me, until I got a Nexus One.

I was using an HTC TyTn2 that I didn't purchase at a Cingular Store and I was on the $15 data plan. Never got caught with this phone, probably because they didn't know what phone to map my IMEI to.

I got a Nexus One for AT&T last year, and received an auto upgrade SMS shortly after, saying that my Nexus One required another plan...

Very cool. I wish there was a way to make the camera stick to a position or follow the car, it's pretty hard to do anything with the angle changing constantly.
