But you have exactly the same fonts in your terminal and modern terminal support variable fonts and all those bells and whistles.

They can even show images these days.

Some of the elements can't be recreated 1 to 1 ofc, like borders with delicate margin\padding adjustment, but this is about it I think.

To each his own, yeah. From my experiment GUIs tend to overcomplicate things and display too much info you didn't need in the first place.

konart··on Pi 1.0
Many of us just live in the terminal (during work hours at least).

I hardly use anything aside from neovim and a browser. (okay corporate Mattermost fork and video terminal too).

For me switching between different cli\tui tools feels like a continuation of whatever I was doing, while going to something GUIsh is not.

And to be honest: what do you even need from a harness\agent for it to have a gui?

konart··on Pi 1.0
> but with lovely graphics

But it's GUI, so a no go by default. TUI > GUI

konart··on DeepSeek Harness Desktop for macOS and Windows
Pi can do this too.

I doubt these two features will be a defining quality of a product soon enough.

Many pieces of software are going to be just blackboxes worked by AI. You will be maintaining output quality and stability and that's it.

konart··on California farmers are struggling to sell grapes as demand for wine drops
True, no experience or an experienced friend around.

>It's bad for your lungs.

15 years of smoking here, unfortunatelly.

But that's mostly in the past now. A silver lining: can't even think about smoking after this experience.

konart··on California farmers are struggling to sell grapes as demand for wine drops
I think this is very subjective.

The only time I smoked a joint I thought I was gonna die. Never fucking again, lol.

Nothing beats taste and effects of small dose of whiskey with some fruut or vodka with an appetizer. Or a few glasses of wine.

konart··on California farmers are struggling to sell grapes as demand for wine drops
> And often the parties are held in a McDonalds or something,

God, what a great childhood I had...

I can't even imagine a birthday party being held in some joint or something.

In my country a kid having a birthday always meant homemade food and fun (up to the age of 15 or something).

konart··on Plan mode is dead
I feel old. These days any new thing I try is dead by the time I actually start using it.
konart··on The Murky History of Soviet-Born Tetris
did not make it fast enough

The parent comment already removed the part about vinyl recordings, but I still really want to point out that people in the USSR had to be creative (have to be even now) to bypass censorship.

This created things like roentgenizdat or "ribs" (gramophone recordings made from polyester X-ray films)

konart··on Zelensky says Russia has widened attacks to hit Ukraine's data centres
Russia had its own production of much improved versions of Shahed many months before the whole USA vs Iran shitshow.
konart··on Zelensky says Russia has widened attacks to hit Ukraine's data centres
To hit just a few (literally 2-3) targets in Moscow Ukraine launches handrends of drones.

Moscow is really big and the most secure city in Russia.

If you want to hit "every target" (which would be way over 100 even if we are talking about huge targets) you have to launch like 50k drones at once.

Same for Russia. Except it is harder for them to find anything of great value at this point. Most of big targets are already in ruins. Civilian infrastructure is all that's left (not counting places reorganized for drone production here, as they are harder to find). And destroying civilian infrastructure does not play well with what Russia is trying to sell for the audience.

konart··on Zelensky says Russia has widened attacks to hit Ukraine's data centres
Geran 5 drones have reaction engine, almost 1000km range and can travel at speed up to 600 km/h.

Not to mention cruise and ballistic missles. Russia never needed any ground besides its own to attack the city.

Either you have posted link to a wrong video or we have a very different experience when it comes to moaning.

Onomatopoeia? Sure it is there, and some fillers (or whatever you call those little sounds). But moans?

konart··on Study: Young users (9 to 18Y) ditch Google for AI, with unknown consequences
This days you don't relly click those links much. Most of the time its the Google AI Mode all the way down.
konart··on T. Rex Had a Body Temperature of 97°F
Yes, but that the whole problem: this scale kind of suggests that you don't go below 0.

But this is not the case here, right?

Some people are used to higher temperatures and never seen snow while some people can't even imagine what it's like to have 40C (104F) outside.

0C is a great "common denominator" (irony). We all understand that generally this is when water changes its state and most people know how it feels.

And then your imagination can easily go lower or higher.

>Judging anything on a scale from 0-10 (or 0-100) is very common.

Now consider that many people live in places where 0F is warmer than what you actually have for a good part of a year.

konart··on Bend – a language that blocks AI mistakes via proof and runs on GPUs
> writing the laws becomes a bigger problem than writing the code itself.

But that's how it is anyway, no?

Defining clear boundaries and clear goals is the hardest part. If you get those right everything else is rather trivial.

konart··on T. Rex Had a Body Temperature of 97°F
You can do the same thing with celsius if you live in a country with a different temperature "calendar".

I'm used to the idea that 0C is what splits the year between cold season and warm season. Obviously people from California will see it differently, for example.

So where I live it is like this:

30 or more - hot

15..30 warm

0..15 chilly

-15..0 calendar winter

-30..-15 real winter

..-30 - freezing, kinds younger than 12 don't go to school

>Better for day to day life

It is not.

konart··on How GLM built its own inference infrastructure
If only this infrastructure could handle all the traffic. I've tried using glm via z.ai - and it's a snail kind of slow.

And at the same time you have pretty strict limits to your usage, so in many cases you can't even let it work all night, as you will reach your limit faster than that.

It can very well be Sol, no? What stops them from using cheaper model for some requests during "rush" hours or simply use cheaper model for every Nth request.

konart··on I Want a Wife (1971) [pdf]
>I go from woman to mother. And with it comes judgement and duties, and goes freedom and care-free living.

Agree on judgement, but duties and freedom and care-free living?

Sorry, both are gone for fathers too. At least those who care (talking as a father here).

Sure, a woman has even less freedom for a few years after a child is born. And a caring partner will try to at least ease this period for a woman.

But rest of a time? It's pretty 50/50 in my experience. My wife (also a backend dev like myself) has her career and her free time, in our family we share cleaning duties and all the cooking is on me (both because I'm better at it and it's less of a burden for me).

I'd like to eliminate judgement (and event more often self-judgement) she sometime faces, but for now I have no solution to present.

Bottom line: it's a fantasy to thing that a responsible father just carries on with whatever life he had before the kid was born and just occasionally fetches one from school to have a few word on the go.

konart··on Ask HN: Who is using MCP in production?
My company (I'm not part of the team that's responsible for anything AI related) has MCP's for Jira, Confluence, Mattermost fork and a few other integrations.

I have no idea about MCP vs API question but I always assumed that the whole point of MCP was an abstration between the model and the tool\service.

As in model does not have to know about a certain API (not to mention a particular version of it) to work with a service.

konart··on GPT-6 Astra
Maybe I misundersdtand your question, but I was under the impression that we more or less know about

>why parrots are not going to parrot work to earn parrot money

and to a certain degree about communication and society.

We know and understand how different species organise their life in many various ways.
