kneel··on The Greening of Milan: Porta Nuova and Vertical Forest

kneel··on Toyota Research claims breakthrough in teaching robots new behaviors
Sex robots!

Real world adoption will catalyze with the company brave enough to train these behaviors in.

kneel··on MGM losing up to $8.4M a day due to cyberattack, analyist says
MGM is smart for not paying.

You can't let the scammers dictate what a casino does, MGM is already in the business of scamming people. They'll build their whole system from the ground up and be incredibly resistant to future attacks.

kneel··on Musk Wanted to Spy on Drivers to Defend Tesla from Lawsuits
There are several videos on PH of ppl doing the deed while autopilot drives the car for them, not saying that excuses privacy concerns but this issue is complicated by a rollout of autonomous features.

Tesla wants your car to do most of the work but doesn't want to be liable if you're not paying attention and/or misusing the feature.

kneel··on Tesla committed fraud by “grossly” exaggerating EV range, class action says
You can get close to EPA estimate if you drive the speed limit and avoid aggressive acceleration, something that almost no one does.
kneel··on Twitter has officially changed its logo to ‘X’
All that bc he rebranded twitter?
kneel··on Tesla directors agree to return $735M following claims they were overpaid
Detractors seem to have short memories.

They were cash strapped and almost bankrupt, the most shorted company of all time and they paid out in equity. They were able to flip it around and become of the all time great success stories, I'd say their directors probably earned their compensation.

kneel··on Tesla directors agree to return $735M following claims they were overpaid
>Do you have an opinion on whether the work they've done is worth $2 billion?

Their market cap went up by 1 trillion.

Again, they were just compensated in equity. It's easy to look back and criticize them as overcompensated but at the time they were just receiving equity worth a fraction of what it is today.

kneel··on Tesla directors agree to return $735M following claims they were overpaid
Seems silly, if their equity goes up in value should they have to return everything over 1m?

It's not their fault that people bought the stock and made them rich.

kneel··on First people sickened by Covid-19 were scientists at WIV: US government sources
Taibbi was the first journalist to report on twitter files. Absolutely mindblowing what was going on behind the scenes of Twitter, had heard rumors of FBI pushing narratives but no one really had any idea how bad it was.
kneel··on First people sickened by Covid-19 were scientists at WIV: US government sources
You don't think causing a global pandemic and millions of death from dangerously careless research deserves criticism?
kneel··on First people sickened by Covid-19 were scientists at WIV: US government sources
Dangerous virus research has continued in the interim.

The real question is if there is little to no regulation or even acknowledgement of failures, it's only a matter of time before this happens again.

kneel··on First people sickened by Covid-19 were scientists at WIV: US government sources
His reporting on the twitter files has been great, the msnbc attack interview isn't really revealing anything. It's just hackery.
kneel··on Inside the Wuhan lab weeks before Covid
>the closest relative to SARSCov2 that has been identified (RaTG13) was found in a cave in Mojiang county in Yunnan, over 1,000 km away, with no evidence that it was ever studied in the Wuhan lab.

This is false

kneel··on Tech bosses are letting dictators censor what Americans see
Ok fair enough.

Doing 3 minutes of research on this topic lead me to the Indian posters page, in which he doesn't even remember the context of his tweet and has reposted the screenshot. He has dozens of tweets discussing censorship, they're all up and available.

Tbh this just sounds like incompetence rather than malevolence, which considering Musk's bungling overhaul of Twitter shouldn't surprise anyone.

kneel··on Tech bosses are letting dictators censor what Americans see
Tech companies can choose to obey laws of a foreign country to gain access to their populace. I don't really see the controversy, US first amendment rights don't apply beyond our borders. This article is an incredulous take considering the increase in censorship within the US media-sphere which actually violates the law.
kneel··on What De-Dollarization? The Dollar Rules the World
> The US has the world’s deepest and most liquid financial markets, and they remain relatively open, in spite of some restrictions on Chinese investment in industries sensitive for national security.

lol, Except for these pesky bank runs, pay no attention to them. Oh and the constant intervening to prop up yield curves and inject liquidity, look the other way comrade.

kneel··on The Contradictions of Sam Altman
It would be irresponsible for intelligence agencies NOT to involve themselves in AI. LLMs have the capabilities to catalyze economic shockwaves on the same magnitude of the internet itself.

Notice how OpenAI is open to many Western friendly countries but not certain competitive challengers? https://platform.openai.com/docs/supported-countries

kneel··on Senate Bill to Ban TikTok
That's a lot of words to say authoritarianism.
kneel··on ChatGPT is down
is it really due to that?
kneel··on Testing GPT 4's code-writing capabilities with some real world problems
To be clear, I don’t think we are getting a bunch of rockstar coders from chatGPT prompt engineering.

It’s more about the CFO who can now write his own SQL queries and dashboards, project managers can dive into details they don’t understand and come to meetings a little more prepared.

This boosts everyone’s productivity, not just coders.

kneel··on Testing GPT 4's code-writing capabilities with some real world problems
I self taught myself how to code and have never been very good, I don't code often and when I do I spend a lot of time relearning some simple programming detail I forgot.

ChatGPT (also copilot) allows me to focus on the project that I'm working on and offload the stack overflow searches to prompting. I don't have to find a similar error someone else posted on SO and figure out how it applies to my current problem. I can keep a high level view of the project and not get bogged down with silly bugs, learning new libraries, or deciphering someone else's code.

I imagine there are a lot of people who are in a similar situation, it's crazy that we've just unleashed this massive productivity booster onto millions of people.

kneel··on Costa Rica’s enigmatic addresses (2021)
I stayed there in college with a host family. My address was something ridiculous like

Independent journalists vs state funded 'Intel' groups

When it comes to critiquing the government I'm going to balance their incentives.

kneel··on Blowing holes in Seymour Hersh’s pipe dream
I'd take any reports done by a self described "OSINT Researcher" with a heavy grain of salt.
kneel··on ‘Dark ships’ emerge from the shadows of the Nord Stream mystery
The US has literally blown up Russian pipelines in the past to prevent influence in Europe.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/2004/02/27/r...

Very doubtful this is some sort of 8d chess game by the Russians.

kneel··on ‘Dark ships’ emerge from the shadows of the Nord Stream mystery
This is incredible mental gymnastics.

Occam's razor provides a better explanation, the West did it because it handicaps a rival power.

kneel··on ‘Dark ships’ emerge from the shadows of the Nord Stream mystery
Are you sure Russian military didn't travel all the way down the Baltic Strait, past the competing norwegian pipeline, and blow up their own pipelines?
