klhutchins··on The Office Is Dead
In my case, a budget for a new chair or basic office supplies would be helpful.
klhutchins··on Taiwan's new 'electronic fence' for quarantines leads wave of virus monitoring
yeah, how is it ensured that it gets turned off once turned on? how soon until "undesirables" meeting together for too long creates an alert to be investigated? As handy as it could be in controlling the virus, what else will it eventually be able to control?
klhutchins··on Coronavirus has disrupted supply chains for nearly 75% of U.S. companies
That brings up the question, Should we be cleaning products/ food brought home? I mean, normally I will wash produce but what about everything else?
klhutchins··on Sites with dumb password rules
Just to add. I'm Not sure if it's just a policy thing, but when a windows rdp session locks, pasting the password is blocked. Manually typing the password becomes a pain. I really hope anything that blocks pasting in forms has good reason, an not just psuedo security
klhutchins··on U.S. blacklists Huawei
Are you worried about China, or the company itself? They probably don't care about your credit card info. State secrets, closed source code, or proprietary business processes might be more useful. But anything nefarious would need to be worth getting caught. I'm sure people will be scrutinizing them a lot closer now?
klhutchins··on A coworker stole my spicy food, got sick, and is blaming me (2016)
Takeout box is the same and food is similar. I have the same container and it isn't labeled. Food got moved around. Forgot I didn't bring food that day.

I've caught myself once or twice where I grabbed the wrong thing. But sometimes in a rush, in sleep addled daze, or just not paying attention, it could happen. I would hate to be fired for a mistake like that.

klhutchins··on Billionaire Mike Novogratz says 10% of his money is in Bitcoin and Ether
I'm speculating, but it could be moving from paper to databases or using EFT to move assets?
klhutchins··on Giving Everyone in the World an Address
I like how my home/property has ~70 addresses and none are similar. To use this I'll need to pick one and make sure its used exclusively, otherwise I'd not only confuse the postman, I'd confuse anyone I need to give location to. Without organization or structure of the words I don't see how it's helpful. Knowing the destination and my latitude and longitude, at least I'd know I was close, without having to reference this service.

An new address solution should solve multiple issues, utilizing existing knowlege, without making it more difficult.

Logical organization should be included. For example, we typically know where England or Canada is, or know the difference between SanDiego.California or adrar.algeria and subdivide from there. At least at this point, most people would know a general area without having to reference forgot.paved.ruler from an external source. "Hey meet me at forgot.paved.ruler, it's just down the way from mixers.gulls.sing, or was that sings?.." Forgetting that 's' puts you on another continent, but it's close enough?

klhutchins··on Show HN: Who would use this Internet usage dashboard?
Is this being tracked by each device? I'm interested in my usage out of curiosity, and I'm able to see the info from my home router. I can use glasswire to track my windows devices and pinpoint services using the network. The router is currently my only way to see other home devices such as the cable box/tv/chromecast/nest. If I could upload a log from my router, then this would be a nicer view. But I also don't want to upload too much data to a 3rd party...
klhutchins··on Bitcoin Miner does the math, calls it quits
It seems like a shame that all that computational power is being wasted. I mean other than generating some hashes, what good does that really do? I think it'd be cool if somehow it tied into the folding@home type of stuff. Where the computations solved something meaningful, but there could also be some "monetary" incentive.
