Go FIRE! Special shout out to Mad Fientist and Paula Pant! Love their podcasts.
klein0891··on Ask HN: Am I just a wantrepreneur?
I was in your same shoes until 4 years ago. I wanted to be an entrepreneur so desperately. I developed websites which solved technical problems imagining users would flock. I tell you it was heart breaking to see one or two hits every week. I tried 3-4 different applications and had zero revenue - docverifier (a document formatting and verification software for students), inqvest (a platform for angel investors) to name a few which have all been dissolved. In 2014, I was finally able to create a niche software product - www.legistracker.com which now creates some passive income. It is not a real business yet but it helps me pay off some of the bills. I was able to do it because realized I was looking in the wrong direction. The problem is that I never ASKED any potential customer what would be a good problem to solve. Without a paying customer, you have no viable product. What I would suggest is that you target small business owners what would help them in a. increase their sales or b. increase their productivity. <shameless plug>I wrote a small e-book https://payhip.com/b/VdmH exactly outlining how to find your first target paying customer if you are interested</shameless plug>. Don't lose hope. Good luck!
klein0891··on Ask HN: What's the best option for easy payment processing?
+1, thanks Dan.

Nice idea! I am a developer so take my advice with a grain of salt. The good - Very nice idea. I would subscribe to it within a moment's notice, not for every month though.

1. I would change the fonts on the title and the content. May be hire a designer, if you can. 2. Try explaining your product with as less content as possible. People usually cannot spend too much time on your home page understanding your idea.

klein0891··on Ask HN: Do I really need a nontechnical person?
If he's pretty much a drag, I'd say drop him. Your partner must share the same vigor as you do in building up a business.

Edit: I remember partnering up with a close friend of mine to build a website. He kept procrastinating simple tasks which got me frustrated. It was even hurting our friendship. I finally worked on the tasks myself and never brought up serious website discussions with him again. We are still good friends now, though.

klein0891··on Ask HN: Should I go for higher pay, older technology job offer?
Probably not but it is a short term project (6+ months). I am skeptical if it would place a dent on my resume if I went to an older technology. It would be much harder convincing my next prospective employer. Wouldn't it?
klein0891··on Ask HN: Should I go for higher pay, older technology job offer?
Hah. I know dude, I hate commutes. Well, they "say" they will eventually move to the latest framework. I have my doubts.
klein0891··on Ask HN: Should I go for higher pay, older technology job offer?
Very true. I know that is the killer part, I used to work with a company which struggled to move from 1.1 framework to 2.0 framework when MSFT released 3.5.
klein0891··on Ash HN: Is there an incubator for older entrepreneurs?
Agree. It is very intentional. I think the pretext is that younger blood will have the least amount of personal attachments and responsibilities. They would have laser sharp focus on building the product.

If you have a product, have you tried approaching angel investors?

Thanks! I will add some more content to the site.
klein0891··on Ask HN: Review my startup, For tech startups - www.inqvest.com
Hmm, true. I will have to push the redesigning task up the ladder then. Do you have any other comments on the usability or the general concept?
klein0891··on Ask HN: Review my startup, For tech startups - www.inqvest.com
I will give it a thought. I appreciate your honest feedback.
klein0891··on Ask HN: Review my startup, For tech startups - www.inqvest.com
Thanks for the clarification. I do agree they look trendier. I am a developer not a designer but I will keep that in mind.

Thanks a ton for the feedback. Can you give me some more information about the rounded-ness? :)

Well, I would have to think about crowd funding as my main motive was to keep the site as an entry point for serious angel investors to search apps based on their selection criteria.

Exactly, it is hard to validate a genuine user without an email address.

For now, you can enter a dummy email address and the system will let you in.
