kleene_op··on How can I prevent my site from being a free dataset for LLMs?
That's like expecting a "no dog on the lawn" sign to work on stray dogs.
kleene_op··on China plans to ban exports of rare earth magnet tech
I'm not sure I want America to be the world leader. But I am definitely sure I don't want it to be China.
kleene_op··on Twitter logo is replaced with a DOGE
So this is what a $44B pile of cash on fire looks like.

Surely Elon must be using this stunt to get some free money back from the hype this generated for dogecoin.

kleene_op··on Can you buy the same ticket at a lower price if you buy it from another country?
Ah. This might be just that.

Does including all taxes amount to the same prices?

kleene_op··on Can you buy the same ticket at a lower price if you buy it from another country?
I just looked at the prices for the cheapest ticket next month from France to Japan, first from the airfrance french website and then from their japanese one.

Cheapest ones in France are around 700-800€ when japanese ones are around 41,000¥ (~300€). This is crazy.

kleene_op··on America’s bad bet on expanding legal sports gambling
IMO it should be increased to something like 50% or above so people stop using them altogether.
kleene_op··on Ok, it’s time to freak out about AI
I don't know what may occur past that realization, but it certainly isn't anchored in determinism!
kleene_op··on Google discontinues Google Glass for enterprise
I think this is true not just for google but for everyone as well.

How many times have people just given up on doing the extra mile? I know I did.

kleene_op··on Jailbreak Chat: A collection of ChatGPT jailbreaks
It's not about humans here, now is it?

We'd better be sure AIs pass trolley problems in a satisfatory manner before we give them even more serious responsability.

kleene_op··on Dilbert Dropped by Newspapers over Creator's Racist Rant
I think we should always separate the art from the artist.

The main problem I have with Dilbert's comics is that they are nowhere near as great as they were 10, or even 20 years ago.

kleene_op··on Problem solving with dimensional analysis
Reasoning in terms of dimensions is such a powerful tool. I wish I had acquired this type of thinking earlier when I was a student.

Dimensions are the equivalent of typing in programming. It can help you write valid programs without having to run them in order to verify it.

kleene_op··on Toward policy for open-source software as infrastructure
Those lego figs have seen better days, that's for sure.
kleene_op··on PM ordered take down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace
Couldn't the US force use a laser, like the one they used during their demo for intercepting missiles?
kleene_op··on Japan has changed in important and visible ways
Seems pretty weird to me as well.

I don't understand how you could love a country enough to live and work there for a decade but not try to learn its language.

kleene_op··on Bill Gates tries to install Movie Maker
Ah. A stochastic approach.
kleene_op··on Names should be cute, not descriptive
What? You don't want to sift through hundreds of pokemon and anime characters names totally unrelated to the variables and functions of the API you need to use for your job? I'll just write "not a team player" in your annual review.
kleene_op··on The “36 questions that lead to love” were originally 40 questions and different
My last date could invert the binary tree, but with horrendous time complexity (O(n.log(n))).

At that point I knew it wouldn't work out between the two of us so I just got up and left the restaurant. I emailed her the solution later because I'm not an inconsiderate human being.

kleene_op··on Infinite AI Array
I wasn't aware there was a mechanism to get the actual name attached to an object when it is instantiated in Python! That alone made my day.
kleene_op··on Are super-rich people just better at making money?
If your simple problem hinges on solving a harder problem to resolve it successfully , then it's not a simple problem.
kleene_op··on Stanford's “Elimination of Harmful Language” Initiative
That's too close to the spelling of the word Man, which would be exclusionary of the woman gender. Let's call it a Human's degree.

Or better yet, a Being's degree. Let's not be speciesists.

kleene_op··on Recursive Game of Life
That's what's really awesome about it. In essence there's nothing but the rules of the game of life.

I wonder if it's the same for reality. Everytime we've been looking at some particles we deemed fundamental they appear to be made of even smaller ones.

kleene_op··on There are no particles, there are only fields (2013) [pdf]
>Quite pretentious for some monkeys who just learned how to fly 4 generations ago.

And the very same monkeys were quite pretentious to try to find a way to fly when God did not gave them wings.

kleene_op··on TikTok is transforming the music industry. Is that a good thing?
Like that sibling reply said, sounds more like a death spiral than anything else.

The problem with collective suicide is that it impacts more than just the ones doing it.

kleene_op··on Use of ChatGPT generated text for posts on Stack Overflow is temporarily banned
I now check the ending of every comment in ChatGPT related discussions before giving it a read.
kleene_op··on Goodbye, data science
This article resonates with me. I love data science, but I hate the bullshit around.
kleene_op··on Stable Diffusion 2.0
It sounds funny but he may have a point. It's not a quality of capitalism per se, had it been communism instead then communism would have been the best system for the present moment.

But capitalism prevails and may be the best system there is for now because I cannot fathom a change in system overnight that would not result in mass suffering for (almost) everyone.

kleene_op··on The “je ne sais quoi” of TikTok
To me, people stating that they don't care about corporation having their data because they're just one person are equally as valid as those who think voting is useless because they're just one ballot.

Those people then typically complain about election results or corporation bending them over, without ever questioning their own responsibility in the outcome.

kleene_op··on Mass of transactions leaving crypto.com wallets
Before or after the rug pull?
kleene_op··on I strive to be a 0.1x Engineer (2016)
Those must be the mythical 100x programmers.
kleene_op··on Functional programming should be the future of software
> getting them to do functional programming is a pipe dream

I don't know if that was intentional but I'm upvoting!
