kleene_op··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
I think it's not just Apple. Everyone and every company seem to become greedier and greedier. Economically, the world is not in a great place, apart from a minority which just gets richer and richer.
kleene_op··on Codeberg Bans Cryptocurrency Projects
This sends a really bad signal.

Why would I host my project there, taking the risk that they changed their mind overnight and declare my project inappropriate because of XYZ?

kleene_op··on Businesses with ugly AI menu redesigns
That's the definition of judging a book by its cover. Maybe they don't care about spending money on design and just want to focus on the food they serve, you'll never know. I would also probably be less inclined to enter a restaurant if I saw generated images advertising the food as opposed to real ones. But I would never ever dare put a one star review without even having been a customer there in the first place. I would remove 2 stars at most from a 5 stars review, if the food and service was impeccable but they ruined the settings with AI.
kleene_op··on Polymarket has flooded social media with deceptive videos by paid creators
> So I could have deposited $1000 via CC into Kalshi and paid it back $83/mo over 12 months

Are you sure those are the correct figures? That's a 4$ win in your favor if you don't use any of the deposited money and cash it back one year later.

kleene_op··on There are now more ETFs than stocks in the US
> bullying the indexes

Bullying with a fat check, yeah. Corruption in this country is off the charts right now.

kleene_op··on We've made the world too complicated
There is only one ethical way to solve that moral issue: Schrödinger birthing
kleene_op··on I Cancelled Claude: Token Issues, Declining Quality, and Poor Support
Same. I am getting crazy good value from Claude at work, on both scientific applications and deployment environments.

There is one caveat, and that is you have to give the model well thought out constraints to guide it properly, and absolutely take the time to read all the thinking it's doing and not be afraid to stop the process whenever things go sideway.

People who just let Claude roam free on their repository deserve everything they end up with.

kleene_op··on French government agency confirms breach as hacker offers to sell data
I already have to log to their website with 2 factor authentification. I had to walk and physically present my id card, install the numerical identity app. That should be enough.

Also, apart from reuploading IDs, they ask for information such as age, name, place of living, and a thousand more things that they already have and doesn't need to be provided to establish that you really are you.

kleene_op··on French government agency confirms breach as hacker offers to sell data
I find it especially ironic that they would leak all my data, given the fact that they would ask of me to forward them every piece of id imaginable whenever I needed to forge or amend a new one (when adding a mention on my driver's license for instance).

Like they didn't have access to it anyway.

kleene_op··on Show HN: SPICE simulation → oscilloscope → verification with Claude Code
Really nice. My mother is an applied Physics teacher, and she told me they had a hard time at work figuring out how they could connect their teaching material to LLM in a relevant way. This should be useful to her.
kleene_op··on Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? My quest to unmask Bitcoin's creator
> There is zero chance any human who put so much effort into creating something would remain silent while it became a $2 trillion phenomenon

I'd argue this is the best reason to remain silent as much as one can.

kleene_op··on Anthropic Subprocessor Changes
Coincidently, Claude Code appears to be down right now (in Europe West at least).

Everytime I hear of something X Azure announcement, that something just seem to break right away.

I know correlation is not causation, but my opinion of Azure is already too damn low to not link those two events.

kleene_op··on GitHub is once again down
Azure, the color of BSOD
kleene_op··on Epoch confirms GPT5.4 Pro solved a frontier math open problem
The ability for some people to perpetually move the goalpost will never cease to amaze me.

I guess that's one way to tell us apart from AIs.

kleene_op··on 4Chan mocks £520k fine for UK online safety breaches
That's the plan. But if they do it right away people will revolt.
kleene_op··on Spotify playing ads for paid subscribers
Same here!

I found now was a good time to build that NAS I wanted to have a long time ago, and the first thing I installed on it was a Navidrome server so I could listen to my curated music everywhere.

Hopefully we're entering the era of people ditching megacorp craps and switching to personal cloud solutions.

YouTube will be very hard to replace though.

kleene_op··on Microsoft's 'unhackable' Xbox One has been hacked by 'Bliss'
> Microsoft's best security measure was making something nobody cared enough about to hack in the first place

Maybe that's what they're trying to achieve with Windows as well.

kleene_op··on Nasdaq's Shame
Does this only affect money invested after June 15th, or does this also devalues money invested before this date? If you don't invest anymore money in the index during the interim rebalancing period refered to by the author, then one should be alright. Right? It's really expensive to get all your marbles out, I'd rather not do it if I don't have to.
kleene_op··on Grammarly is offering ‘expert’ AI reviews from famous dead and living writers
EAGER is not enough. EAGER only guarantees one side of the conjoined triangles of success. They teach this at business school.
kleene_op··on Stolen Gemini API key racks up $82,000 in 48 hours
>By the way old chap, you have gone over your storage limit. Do you want to buy more or delete some stuff?

Why does my AWS counselor sound British. Am I in eu-west-2?

kleene_op··on I gave Claude access to my pen plotter
Spirals again.

Those AIs have read too much Junji Ito.

kleene_op··on King – man + woman is queen; but why? (2017)
The meaning is not in the numbers themselves, but in how they each relate to one another.

Also those are not mere numbers here, but vectors. Dimensionality and orthogonality is key to define complex relationships.

kleene_op··on Prediction markets are ushering in a world in which news becomes about gambling
Depends on how many of those gambling addicts there are.

If a huge enough portion of the population try to solve the statue quo of their economic problems by betting all on red, that's not gonna be great for society, including those who don't gamble.

kleene_op··on Erdos 281 solved with ChatGPT 5.2 Pro
Phew. This is a relief, honestly!
kleene_op··on We put Claude Code in Rollercoaster Tycoon
Spatial awareness was also a huge limitation to Claude playing pokemon.

It really seems to me that the first AI company getting to implement "spatial awareness" vector tokens and integrating them neatly with the other conventional text, image and sound tokens will be reaping huge rewards. Some are already partnering with robot companies, it's only a matter of time before one of those gets there.

kleene_op··on LWN is currently under the heaviest scraper attack seen yet
LLMs just do be paperclipping
kleene_op··on Machado gives Nobel peace prize medal to Trump
First the fact that she received the price when a ton of people where far more deserving of it in terms of raw achievements toward peace. Then the fact that she would sell the price and what it represents for a slim (read inexistent)k shot at being instated as the president of Venezuella, where I read that the majority of people have a very unfavorable opinion of her. And finally the fact that she would sell away the Peace price to Donald Trump, the very same person considering invading Greenland for aura farming purposes!

I think they have to shut down the Noble peace price at this point, there's no recovering from such an embarrassing turn of events.

kleene_op··on There's a ridiculous amount of tech in a disposable vape
Our whole current civilization could be construed as advanced alien tech servicing a humongous tribe of moronic apes. The fact that one fifth of the internet is dedicated to porn just speaks for itself. Just thinking about all the tech involved, from the capturing of footage using highly sophisticated camera, to the transmission over kilometers of fiber optics, to the stokage into redundant and consistent databases backed by highly optimized hardware and brilliantly engineered file format, to the distribution to your phone device, which is literally a personal computer that fits in your palm.. all of that just to show porn to satisfy your monkey brain.

It seems almost absurd to what length humanity has gone just to satisfy it's primitive needs.

kleene_op··on Let's be honest, Generative AI isn't going all that well
> Reliably constructing 10k bug free lines is probably the least successful.

You imperatively need to try Claude Code, because it absolutely does that.

kleene_op··on Pakistani newspaper mistakenly prints AI prompt with the article
I guess in the end the journalist didn't feel necessary to impact his readers with punchy one line stats and bold infographic-ready layouts, considering he opted for the first draft.
