kid0m4n··on How a Diablo expansion led to behind-the-scenes trouble
Define failure?
kid0m4n··on Tesla issues strongest statement yet blaming driver for deadly crash
So he had his hands on the wheel and took no action for 6 seconds while driving straight to the barrier. Doesn't make it look any better for the driver TBH.
kid0m4n··on Concussion doctor says he found CTE in living NFL player
I will see your 50 MPH catch and raise you 100: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX8EQXMtX8w

While OBJ's was impressive, I have seen even more crazy catches in Cricket and Baseball!

kid0m4n··on With a $1k Price, Apple’s iPhone Crosses a Threshold
No offence :P but we are paying > US$1000
kid0m4n··on With a $1k Price, Apple’s iPhone Crosses a Threshold
Funny thing. We in India pay regularly close to $1000 (oh the irony there) for a regular iPhone 7 - and they sell a lot here.
kid0m4n··on Monolith First (2015)
We took ur jobs????
kid0m4n··on German traffic light stays red for 28 years (2015)
What???? I doubt this is true. Smoking has never been allowed in numerous Air India flights I have taken.
kid0m4n··on Starting an Internet Service Provider
I get symmetric 200/200 for about $70/month in Bangalore, India. It's just a dumb pipe though (no included TV/phone, though I could also go for those).
kid0m4n··on National Broadband Network CEO says Australians don't want super-fast broadband
At my third world home, I get a 125 Mbps fiber to home connection for around USD 74 per month.
kid0m4n··on Million requests per second with Python
I checked the benchmark code out. I have asked the author for more information. I am not sure if all the tests were limited to using only 1 core during the run. GOMAXPROCS=1 severely limits the Go version.

1 Go worker process can utilise all the cores in the server. I just want to get that clarified.

kid0m4n··on Why hasn't Haskell taken over the world? And the curious case of Go
From a "dump-down" developer, why the throw away though? Proudly wear your opinion dude, you are entitled to it!
kid0m4n··on Rust is mostly safety
If only Go was useful in building closed source products. Google must not have gotten the memo about Rust yet.
kid0m4n··on Shopify is processing over $260k per minute right now
But looks like there are some bits of Go in there somewhere... https://github.com/tobi?utf8=%E2%9C%93&tab=repositories&q=go...
kid0m4n··on Visual Studio Code 1.7
They had to rollback the update:

> Unfortunately, we needed to roll back the 1.7 release of VS Code. One of the great new features in 1.7 is the automatic acquisition of typing files when writing JavaScript and TypeScript. These typings files drive the IntelliSense (code completions) experience in the tool. The feature was so great that we started to overload the npmjs.org service. The right thing to do in the short term was to revert the release. If you had already upgraded to 1.7 you would have been prompted to install another update and you should now be at 1.6.1 again. We apologize for this inconvenience and we're working hard to make both short and long term fixes to bring you a great editing experience in VS Code.

kid0m4n··on Go 1.7.1 Released
We were bit by the `closeConnIfStillIdle` bug as we didn't expect the stdlib to panic like that (also something you cannot recover from, as it happens in a goroutine which you didn't create.)
kid0m4n··on Go 1.7.1 Released
Does it bother you enough to post a message here?

It's not like someone submitted it to the front page of HN? People voted it for it to come up here... and that itself should be reason enough.

kid0m4n··on Hello from Orkut
Why oh why limit it from being available in countries like India? You want users, we got users. Can never comprehend behind a geo wall for things like this (and can totally understand why Netflix wasn't earlier).

PS: I wonder how much hello.com cost, and how did he have control over the orkut.com domain?

kid0m4n··on Google got it wrong. The open-office trend is destroying the workplace (2014)
The article is a year old. Someone add (2014) to the title
kid0m4n··on Google Cloud revenue could be bigger than ads
It single handedly allowed us to build what we did! We tried going to AWS once, and almost got burned with the number of choices available and number of decisions to make.
kid0m4n··on Paris Shootings and Explosions Kill Over 100, Police Say
We visited France/Paris for our marriage anniversary back in June; and the city left a lasting impression on for over the course of 4 days.

All I can say is; don't change your fundamentals. Then they have won. It's just a larger version of your bitcoin demanding DDOS bandits. Once you give in, humanity will fail.

I am more worried about the innocent people who are going to suffer because of this.

kid0m4n··on ProtonMail pays $6k ransom, gets taken out by DDoS anyway
Yes. I am thankful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jallianwala_Bagh_massacre
kid0m4n··on First chapter of Kernighan and Donovan's new Go book [pdf]
Yep. It does; but then again my entire static binary (no dependency on libc even) is around 10 MB in size...

I love being able to pull down a docker container that fast!

kid0m4n··on First chapter of Kernighan and Donovan's new Go book [pdf]
Yes. Its always good to read the D success stories.
kid0m4n··on New Windows 10 Devices From Microsoft
Excited to see what this competition will do to Apple. Expect to see something radical in the MBP line now.
kid0m4n··on Ran: a simple static web server written in Go
Plug: https://github.com/kidoman/serve

Gets the job done!

kid0m4n··on Apple Introduces the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus
Or possibly, stats showed that a significant percentage of users don't even come close to filling up the 16 GB.
kid0m4n··on Apple Introduces the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus
Yep. 1.5s 12 MP videos (0.75s before and after) as "live photos".
kid0m4n··on How Go was Made
LMGTFY "go game algorithm"
kid0m4n··on SpaceX – Launch Vehicle Failure
I always wondered why?
kid0m4n··on SpaceX – Launch Vehicle Failure
Thats a mighty tasteless thing to say. I am guessing you are on the "we should not be exploring space" camp?
