My work PC has IE6 and I see it being applied.

Networking with your peers & professors is quite beneficial, unless you plan on being a lone genius.

I hope it's well optimized for fibonacci algorithms now.

is it just me or is this some sort of google app engine rehash with js?

khookie··on Stanford Fall 2011 - Machine Learning
Thank you for your input here - I was considering the same question as well (AI vs. ML).

khookie··on Impressions of Android from a dev's perspective
Just wondering, does anyone know what the most popular phone on the Android platform is at the moment?

Thinking of upgrading from my iPhone 3G.

Wow, this is the reason I read Hacker News day by day rather than the gibberish most of mass media produces.
khookie··on Node.js is Backwards
There is longevity in nodejs. As long as Javascript remains king on the client-side, you can pretty much guarantee nodejs will have a future.

aha best line... "ergo Wikipedia you're that really smart nerd in high school that all the cool girls secretly wanted to date but wouldn't dare."

Apologies for my ignorance, but what's Indy? I'm assuming it's not related to the race of the same name.
khookie··on Tim Berners-Lee says Facebook is a trap
Nothing to worry about - people will realise in a few years or so that status updates are only feeding their stupid egos and they'll find themselves many other things to distract themselves with soon enough.
khookie··on What I learned from building WordGap on AppEngine
I still don't get why people keep on talking about how awesome App Engine deployment is.

khookie··on Life Hack - The 30/30 Minute Work Cycle Feels Like Magic
I guess any rational sounding justification will do eh - 30mins work and 30mins break? Gimme a break... you're wasting so much time it's not funny.

But I guess you are what you want to believe - http://news.stanford.edu/news/2010/october/willpower-resourc...

Not saying the principle is bad, you just need to make the reward significantly cheaper than what it is now.

khookie··on Which country has the best brains?
I don't think the peace prize should be counted if one is writing on countries with the "best brains". My understanding is that people who win the peace prize are usually ones fighting an oppressive regime, which is commendable, but not a huge intellectual feat.
khookie··on PG: Disconnecting Distraction
BTW, I'm going to try your suggestion of having another PC - or maybe it's an excuse to buy a new PC :-)... just wanting to know whether you changed anything since writing the article.
khookie··on PG: Disconnecting Distraction
Hi PG

With quite a number of months past, are you still following this routine - have you made adjustments/improvements? I'm very interested to know since I have this problem as well -in my case it's with Wikipedia.

I can spend whole days reading on the site about computers, science & politics, and although I learn alot and it does benefit in whatever work I do, it's definitely not financially viable in the long run.

khookie··on Startups On Steroids
Sheesh, the article's only taking into account development time... I'm sure there was plenty of branstorming/planning time before actual implementation.
khookie··on First Coders at Work interview done
Without being facetious, I'm sure he could pay someone (that is better at transcribing) to do it for less, even if he wrote a nifty app in Emacs to help with the process.
