kholmes79··on Ask HN: Where to meet non-technical cofounders?
hey there, writing from FN. Would you be willing to share the reference ID on the WAF blocked access page so we can troubleshoot your issue? You can email it to support(at)foundersnetwork(dot)com.

kholmes79··on IronFunctions Alpha 2
Big fan of Hot Functions. Doest this utilize lamda like code format?
kholmes79··on IronFunctions: language agnostic open-source alternative to AWS Lambda
do you support java?
kholmes79··on Show HN: Bento – Delivering custom bento boxes in 15 minutes in SF
Saw it launch at Launch Conference and tried it out. Generous portions, great price, beautiful packaging. This reminds me I need to try it again soon. +1 on web UI.
kholmes79··on August Capital GP on “What a VC Is Really Thinking During Your Pitch”
I forgot to add one of the best quotes from yesterday was "Pitch 5 VC's and you'll get 6 different opinions." Curious what YC grads hear about the point "Data is a 4 letter word". Are you guys taught to pitch "monetizing data" as your business model or is this discouraged?
kholmes79··on HotelTonight's ETL Pipeline Built w/ Iron.io and RedShift
what about dependencies in the workers?
kholmes79··on Funders Network
It was a totally different title "A virtual demo day for YC, 500, TS, FI and other alums". We are doing this contest for our peer mentorship community of tech founders - many of whom are YC, 500, FI, TS alums - and we have judges from August Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, SoftTech VC, Matrix Partners, etc. Sadly it appears someone at HN changed the title to Funders Network and pulled it from the list, not sure why. This is a community event that many HN readers are connected to and would likely enjoy supporting. Can someone at HN please help?
kholmes79··on How Quora sent us 82.10% of our visitors
Thanks Marc. I will give it a shot. e.g. "look for questions that are relevant to the problems we are trying to solve, and answer to the best of my abilities." I'm curious how much actual traffic this created and also if Quora is better suited for your business vs. others...
kholmes79··on Queue Webhook Events with IronMQ Webhook Support
This is huge. I've been waiting for you guys to release this; thank you for listening!
kholmes79··on 100M Messages a Day Milestone for IronMQ
Congrats!
kholmes79··on What Makes an Intern a Good Hire
We've had a lot of success hiring interns via InternMatch. Finding good talent is hard. Hiring interns allows you to insure you should be committing scarce resources for the added staff. The interns get a chance to prove themselves as competent, motivated, etc. and we get a low risk chance to evaluate them during a trial period that is packed with learning for the intern. Win - Win.
kholmes79··on Founders helping Founders (Potential?)
Correction, the only thing that was the same was the tagline. Nice app. Looks really useful.
kholmes79··on Founders helping Founders (Potential?)
Hey, I'd say this is a brilliant idea; we are already doing this ~ founders network is 1 year old and our tagline is in fact, "founders helping founders" tm. :) Check us out: www.foundersnetwork.com Cheers, Kevin
kholmes79··on 5 of the Dumbest (and most costly) Startups Mistakes, Part 1
Probably a really common oversight and valuable advice (Read Zuckerberg v. Winkelvoss)
kholmes79··on How Appthority Won "Most Innovative Company" at RSA, 2012
Is this the right launch strategy for all startups? If there was no competition to showcase Appthority would it still make sense?
kholmes79··on Maintain a Rockin’ Blog for Your Startup
Will add a new paragraph on GoDaddy hosting alternatives. Any recs?
kholmes79··on Maintain a Rockin’ Blog for Your Startup
Thanks, they should be fixed now.
kholmes79··on Our YC Interview Experience
Great job Abel and Evan! Great to see Founders Network members doing well. Pogoseat is a simple idea, easy for consumers to get, easy to use and a strong business case for venues ~ additional revenue per attendee.
