kfriede··on FCC Filings Overwhelmingly Support Net Neutrality Once Spam Is Removed
This is why I oppose net neutrality on principle. In practice, however, I feel it is unfortunately necessary due to the existing regulations. The ideal solution would be to remove the existing regulations and thus remove the need for net neutrality (since new competition would finally be allowed to easily enter the market), but I simply don't forsee that happening in my lifetime.
kfriede··on Ransomware Spreading onto Smart TVs, Is a Pain to Fix
Unless it can be infected using the stick as a proxy (though I haven't seen that as a possible vulnerability yet).
kfriede··on Best Wifi Mesh Network Kits
I use powerline adapters (like homeplug for ethernet) and would say I get about 99.9% uptime. I think I bought either TPLink or Trendnet.
kfriede··on Why Do So Many Zippers Say YKK? (2012)
I've actually seen certain garments (usually one's meant for tougher situations) marketed with YKK zippers. Little did I know it's actually a pretty common zipper.
kfriede··on Show HN: What every browser knows about you
I don't blame them. I'd crash if you denied me permission too. /s
kfriede··on Show HN: On-Demand Secure Private Networks – Documentation
Awesome, just signed up. I'd love to see more information on the security model for communication between endpoints (e.g. where does traffic get encrypted at, how are keys generated/shared, etc).

Also, the guides to install could use some work. Took me some poking around to figure it out for OS X. A HomeBrew script to install it would be cool.

kfriede··on REI to shut on Black Friday to have employees go outside
And REI has some history of caring for the employees and customers more than profits. Apple doesn't have this history, and would get ridiculed for having ulterior motives.
kfriede··on Facebook iOS App Scrapes Your Clipboard?
It may seem small and insignificant to us, but how much do you think advertisers would pay to see the link that I just pasted into an iMessage, or the contents of the email I just copied?
kfriede··on Facebook iOS App Scrapes Your Clipboard?
> My app Workflow[1] has a great workflow in its gallery that you can run from your widget to clear your clipboard if you regularly copy sensitive information.

Shameless plug, but the app looks awesome. Would be cool (if not already done) if you could plug into IFTTT to fill in features that you can't/don't want to.

kfriede··on LogMeIn acquires Lastpass
I'm seeing Dashlane at $40 per year. That's pretty steep.
