kevinyun··on Awesome Tensorflow: A curated list of Tensorflow resources
Been looking for more high level examples and articles on TensorFlow. This is perfect -- thanks!
kevinyun··on RethinkDB is shutting down
I would be curious to know this as well
kevinyun··on Employee #1: General Assembly
Wow, before reading an HN comment, never realized to associate Adam Pritzker as being part of the Pritzker family.

Not relevant but I actually work out of the GA Chicago shared space every now and then.

Never thought to connect those dots...just super interesting and impressive. L

This will probably get buried but wonder if GA is in the market for picking up some tech ed bootcamps

kevinyun··on The Real Product Market Fit
Hey Michael, awesome piece! When I started my first company [that made serious revenue relative to other projects], I didn't spend any money until we actually had sales. Getting to product-market fit took awhile for us, as growing the brand and reputation just took time, but now it's an awesome machine that churns well with some spurts of oil here and there.

I think you're spot on with the half-baked, v1, imperfect solution. Currently trying to do the same with a new startup (https://getbeau.com). Our v1 didn't do it for us, but we listened to the recurring feedback and just relaunched our v2 and are continuing to validate that the problem we solve for our customers is a serious (albeit first-world) problem.

kevinyun··on Ask HN: Would you use a silent coworking space?
I'm a big fan of http://Deskpass.com in Chicago. It's access to tons of coworking spaces and has really affordable monthly pricing. For me, I got desk pass because I like a combo of different days between vibrant and quiet. As far as pricing, I would probably be more comfortable with monthly pricing vs hourly.

Just a .02 from a guy who works remotely and has different preferences at times.

kevinyun··on Show HN: We'll help you land that next-level job. No cost until you're hired
Hey there, thanks for the comments!

I'll be sharing a post in the near-future that outlines our process and tool/hosting stack so that anyone can put together a website with all our details (sans design and creative direction). Even if you've never built a site, you can copy our procedures directly. If you design/develop/build sites, you don't need us. If you are technical and/or have impressive credentials, you probably don't need us.

Talemark isn't a replacement for recruiters, brute force networking, and LinkedIn Premium. It's for when you're applying for a stretch company or if you're having trouble hearing back from any companies. Some people simply aren't the best candidates in the resume stack, and a unique-domain targeted-content microsite is super useful in provoking a response.

We talked with early friends/family users, and we ended up with 3% as a fair given the ROI for all parties. Not everyone will get the job, and that's factored in. We don't take recruitment fees from employers. Talemark lets you offload the stress to us (free upfront / no risk) and saves you time (you just have to provide the content).

kevinyun··on Show HN: Automatic image moderation and nudity detection
awesome service! May integrate this with https://adcat.io in the future with a public feed feature
kevinyun··on HyperDev – Developer Playground for Full-Stack Web Apps
That was a fast beta invite! Got errors and looking forward to when it's more stable. Curious about pricing -- if this is freemium set up like heroku, will gladly dive deeper in
kevinyun··on [dead]
Thank you for the heads up! Should be fixed
kevinyun··on Universal.css
If you don't read the docs fully, everything looks really official with 314 stars social credibility too
kevinyun··on Ask HN: Anyone looking for a cofounder?
I'm a UX+UI designer with experience in early stage startups and marketing, looking to partner up with someone who wants to launch SaaS products :)
kevinyun··on CDNs aren't just for caching
Great points in the article. I've been using Cloudflare for the past year or so for all my production sites. Super straightforward to set up, has awesome features like SSL, page rules, minification, and more.

DNS configuration was always a pain for me before Cloudflare, but now it takes less than 10 minutes to buy a domain, set up any/all subdomains, and get back to your product/site.

kevinyun··on Ask HN: Where to find people to program with in Silicon Valley?
Not sure if that's sarcastic, but you're describing something that sounds pretty great
kevinyun··on Ask HN: Where to find people to program with in Silicon Valley?
Great question, feeling the same way here in Chicago! It's getting colder now, but would love to meet up with like minded people who want to create things.
kevinyun··on Show HN: Snapp – Windows-Like Window Snapping for OS X

One of the startup companies I used to work with was called Cupcloud (http://cupcloud.com). If you're OK with a cloud app, it can support Photoshop and Illustrator
kevinyun··on From 0 to Startup: How We Made $70,000 in Revenue in Our First 6 Months – Part 1
Thanks for calling this out. When I started this, I really had nothing to lose (no personal assets of significance). Since there's something to lose now, I can definitely assure you the business will (very) soon be an entity with liability protection.
kevinyun··on From 0 to Startup: How We Made $70,000 in Revenue in Our First 6 Months – Part 1
Thanks for bringing up that point -- and sorry to hear that! Profit margin has been pretty good (~40% margin), after all expenses have been said and done
kevinyun··on From 0 to Startup: How We Made $70,000 in Revenue in Our First 6 Months – Part 1
There's a lot of trivial details in this first post I realized as well (and I'll go into the main stressors later), but I definitely, agree with you. I think Marc Andreeson really hits the nail with this post: http://pmarchive.com/guide_to_startups_part4.html

Ironically, once a startup is successful, and you ask the founders what made it
successful, they will usually cite all kinds of things that had nothing to do with it. People
are terrible at understanding causation. But in almost every case, the cause was actually
   product/market fit.
I'm trying to avoid this.
kevinyun··on Ask HN: Excel template for software metrics
thanks for the Noah Kagan links!

the MS and google templates are financial model templates, but I appreciate it.

We made Fitsby (http://fitsby.com) and aren't making a miniscule amount from it.

kevinyun··on Beautiful iOS mail app
Wow, truly is beautiful!
kevinyun··on Andreessen and Mixpanel Call for an End to “Bullshit Metrics”
People will always be measuring everything by the numbers. Look at your number of Facebook friends, your LinkedIn connections, your GPA in college, your annual income. It's always a rational argument to say that bigger is better. In a world where metrics are quantified like this, this is the natural way of thinking. It's going to be difficult to seep through the bullshit metrics, especially when you're such a small startup with other numbers that are too embarrassing to display to the world -- but, really, when you think about it this is the only way to find and fix the problems that you have.
