ketamine__··on Fake_contacts: Android app to create fake phone contacts, to do data-poisoning
Is there a limit on the number of contacts Clubhouse would sync?
ketamine__··on Single-Shot and First Doses First
> My view is that it would be good if the J&J vaccine was followed by a booster–perhaps of some other vaccine–but that it’s individually fine and in fact socially beneficial to get more people protected quickly by delaying the booster for at least 12 weeks to when vaccines are less scarce. I don’t currently see a reason for thinking differently about the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Not an expert, not a researcher, but an economist...

ketamine__··on Berkshire Hathaway 2020 Annual report [pdf]
Charlie Munger spoke at the Daily Journal annual meeting. There wasn't a live audience this year and it felt stiff and uncomfortable.
ketamine__··on Every thought about personal finance I've ever had, as concisely as possible
But first: Let's establish it's not all wash trading.
ketamine__··on How Uber Deals with Large iOS App Size
Wouldn't native apps be much smaller? I wish more companies did this. Uber on Android handles quite poorly.

> This portfolio was made when I was young and stupid.

Chances are you're still young if you have crypto.

Why do you assume the creator is alive?
ketamine__··on Intercal, YAML, and Other Horrible Programming Languages
It's an encrypted yaml file.
ketamine__··on Firefox replaces Google Analytics with fake no-op in strict tracking protection
Doesn't Firefox get all its money from Google?
ketamine__··on Intercal, YAML, and Other Horrible Programming Languages
Purely my problem for not knowing but I ran into an issue of where I needed to escape characters in a password in a yaml file. Having said that I really like yaml as a Ruby dev.
ketamine__··on Italy demands €733M in fines from food delivery platforms
Better to do delivery of groceries and food than to go to a store and swap air with others.

Uber Eats was amazing in Ecuador. I could order two Bolòn for $10 delivered.

You need fiat on ramps for crypto to work. Contrary to what other commenters have suggested you can't legally help other individuals convert their dollars to BTC. That's acting as a money transmitter.
ketamine__··on Coinbase S-1
Binance did something like this with BNB.
ketamine__··on Coinbase S-1
That's clearly not true. People have been arrested for acting as money transmitters.
ketamine__··on Coinbase S-1
Coinbase makes money in a down market because of trading volumes.
ketamine__··on Coinbase S-1
Satoshi is dead. It was Hal Finney. The coins aren't moving.
ketamine__··on Coinbase S-1
How does that decentralized fiat on ramp look?
ketamine__··on Coinbase S-1
It wasn't clear to me......
ketamine__··on Coinbase S-1
The market cap of crypto is much larger than 1B. It's at least 1 trillion.
ketamine__··on Apple buys a company every three to four weeks
It's mostly about talent but nobody wants to embarrass the entrepreneurs?
ketamine__··on The unusual ways Western parents raise children
> "Is he in his own room yet?" is a question new parents often field once they emerge from the haze of life with a newborn. But sleeping apart from our babies is a relatively recent development – and not one that extends around the globe. In other cultures sharing a room, and sometimes a bed, with your baby is the norm.

Westerners have more sex?

ketamine__··on Square Buys $170M More Bitcoin, Deepening Crypto Bet
Younger people are less risk-averse and more likely to distrust the traditional finance industry because of past meltdowns. Many see BTC as a safer bet than a financial product a bank would sell them. Right or wrong it's a shift in thinking and may be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The crypto economy has created a lot of jobs. As far as I'm concerned that's pretty good value.

ketamine__··on Bitfinex and Tether required to end all trading activity with New Yorkers
Tether isn't decentralized but as it turns out users prefer convenience over ideology. This is pretty apparent from the rise of Binance.

If you want to blame anyone though it's probably the folks that have been working on layer 2 since 2017 but haven't delivered in a major way.

ketamine__··on Bitfinex and Tether required to end all trading activity with New Yorkers
Bitcoin is going up because young people want to buy Bitcoin. Most young people are trading (i.e. WSB) and not investing in cryptocurrency. That has a lot to do with price fluctuations. Also taxes, vacations, etc are all funded by cashing out.
ketamine__··on Bitfinex and Tether required to end all trading activity with New Yorkers
On an individual basis perhaps but not if you're in an S&P 500 ETF.
ketamine__··on Bitfinex and Tether required to end all trading activity with New Yorkers
The returns you can make in securities over ten to twenty years is much more impressive than bonds.
