This is the level of national security or foreign policy disaster. If you think anyone that was involved will ever work in tech again pass me whatever you're smoking
If you want more open research and development, you should be happy for a closed OpenAI. It's why we have Mistral. Let the org redefine itself and push new boundaries. If we didn't have commercial unix there would be no linux. Allow the path to be blazed by VC, it's not about open technology being first, it's about it even existing at all.
Privacy is less important than AGI and any privacy you think you have is an illusion, only maintained while it's profitable for you to think you have privacy. Accept the reality and grow the hell up
OpenAI isn't scared, OpenAI quit already. The remnants and their false king Ilya are beyond what the word scared is capable of describing though, in terms of the level of abject horror they are certain to face the rest of their entire lives even if they run away now. This will never escape them and nobody involved with this decision will ever work in tech again, or on any board of any organization. I hope they saved up for retirement.
Why do you not think Ilya was the cheif architect of this failed coup? Im being serious everything ive seen points to him being the one responsible, there is no way he will ever stay let alone work in tech again
Forks don't suck, BSD is a fork. There would be no linux without forks. Libreoffice is a fork, when is the last time you ever heard somebody say the cursed words "open office"? Probably about 15 years ago, when it was forked. Forking is normal and encouraged. Fork for literally no reason, all the time. It's fine.
I've been publishing code on github for what feels like a decade and i have never felt that anyone taking the time out of their day to write a message to me via the issues page is rude. I think you're the rude one, if you don't want public interaction mark your repos prvate.
Cars are not allowed in the rules of the game "foot race", therefore your solution is not valid and therefore your argument has no evidence to support your claim.
In bowling and golf the mistake is athletic. You moved your body wrong, also there are variables such as the wind and humidity of the air in golf, and a in bowling the ball and other micro variables effect play. It's possible to improve physical condition with training, but there is no "perfect". In a fully abstracted competitive game where all variables are eliminated except for mental choices, it becomes about memorization of the solutions if the game is solved.
Justine, you are one of less than 5 programmers that make me feel envy. Hope to have a coffee or a whiskey with you some day if we ever cross paths. Enjoy your day, you are an inspiration and goals. Both mental goals and presentation goals, which is essentially unheard of.
They are moot because the solution is known. When a human makes a mistake the intrigue is discovering the fix to become better. In solo copetition solved games are highly fascinating because the person is racing the TAS or the solved route. In human versus human games, we can simply look up what the human did wrong. There is no cognitive challenge in answer lookup. Its just oh, he sucks he missed the move. Since its two humans competing it becomes "who sucks less" but its two losers that both suck competing. Thats the problem with competitive play of solved games, it must be solo competition against the solution.
Is time spent recovered from a torn ACL a waste? No, we do not tell athletes to play with injuries without rehab. What do you think relaxation is for the mind? I hope you're not a parent
Poor kids of these helicopter parents will be crippled in life when they don't have basic skills like operating a keypad to text or using a phone to check assigbments, getting into the habit of healthy use, instead they will be struggling compared to their peers who grew up with the technology. If you hate cell phones, you are probably better served being amish
I remember how much I loved compiz and beryl in high school, my classmates always enjoyed watching me do assignments. I remember it becoming increasingly difficult to make work with OS releases and it forced me to just adopt a "normal" workspace based workflow, a 3 by 3 flat grid instead of the many sided cubes and shapes I used for compiz. I stayed on gtk2 longer than most people via mate, but now I mostly use Mac os with a flat 11 workspaces and it feels so limiting. I wish I could use a 3x3 workspace layout instead of a flat row of workspaces.
