kderbyma··on Chronic stress spreads cancer
Obviously. Anyone who has been severely stressed knows it's killing them.....except the doctors who cannot sell you something from their pill sponsors
kderbyma··on Every single new Google product
Not if Google develops it.
kderbyma··on Every single new Google product
Google is pretty pathetic these days. They have become a parody under Pinchai.....he must be so proud of his legacy (hahahahahaha )

Google shows that you don't need skills or talent ..you just need money, and control.

kderbyma··on Google to pause Gemini image generation of people after issues
Pinchai is anything but a good leader....he is the blandest CEO yet somehow is seeped in politics....
kderbyma··on Air Canada must honor refund policy invented by airline's chatbot
Remember.... reputation is ruined....so I hope Air Canada learned something....you have no customer service and would rather look a fool than be a good company.....does anyone care any more....like fuck this trashy company
kderbyma··on Findaway's new terms of service are unacceptable
Spotify has been on a path of self destruction for quite some time...at least 6 months minimum....

so this is not a surprise...this the saga of the swan song they started when they lost the plot and chased after shortcuts instead of value.

kderbyma··on Sora: Creating video from text
until we automate the real work.....UBI will not work...
kderbyma··on Sony is erasing digital libraries that were supposed to be accessible "forever"
same. Though only 0.25Tb so far. :) getting there. I struggle with bands that do not sell CDs, but everything from my childhood is cheap and easy to find.
kderbyma··on It's time to admit that genes are not the blueprint for life
I still find the analogy mostly appropriate. Perhaps, it is not the 'high level source code' that is strictly typed as was perhaps believed by some, but I think it can still act as analogous to the runtime memory state of the computer. The genes are like memory mapped services which can operate on one another and change their state, and this couples with interrupts from the external environment that force changes to the state and memory, but the runtime code adapts and still has access to in-memory functions to call when appropriate, but every so often a buffer overflow can occur or be enticed and this causes other issues.
kderbyma··on How Condé Nast bought and destroyed Pitchfork
bad leadership strategy. Plain and simple. They like many once powerhouse IP controlling firms have failed to realise the very thing that gave those IPs any value in the first place..... individual identity that was not centralized by some corporate quarterly objectives.....
kderbyma··on JavaScript was Brainfuck all along
I have used this on some coding challenges when you try to get the shortest answer or oneliner.
kderbyma··on Chromecast Google TV now has full-screen auto-playing Chicken Tender Wrap ads
Google has lost all hope. Sundar Pinchai is at the helm of the next Titanic and missed the icebergs.....

they have failed to innovate and have doubled down on a losing strategy....I expect a race to the bottom until it kicks and they replace him....but it won't fix the issues...

it's too late. the company is now gorging on the corpse of society that it has nothing left to provide....it has become parasitic

kderbyma··on Words Make It Obvious That Your Text Is Written by AI
I don't really agree with this article. I think that those particular points are actually just commonly used in typed dialog....because they are common in spoken casual explanation.

those particular examples are all 'descriptive' or educational to me, and alternatives were not suggested with any concrete examples.

kderbyma··on Safetyism killed playtime
it wasn't just safetyism.....it was city planners ....density with no parks and greenspace....terrible design to favour numbers over happiness.....that was far more damaging....
kderbyma··on Chronic inflammation may be a "disease of affluence"
Diet and lifestyle ( 'brand' name is probably not good when it's your food.....)
kderbyma··on Chronic inflammation may be a "disease of affluence"
Seed oils, Fillers, Leaviners, texturisers, emulsifiers.....poison.
kderbyma··on My toddler still loves planes, so I upgraded her radar
I think it could be about hiding the level of accuracy. I remember sometime back learning that there are many cases where sounds are added back for comfort and the expected experience that customers are used to, so perhaps this is one of those cases where they have continued as a company to mask their true power and just like with everything they do, they cannot appear to be a monopoly so they need to fake the accuracy defects and all that while behind the scene they are actually tracking it all ..... who knows.
kderbyma··on Ubisoft Says Out Loud: We Want People to Get Used to Not Owning What They Bought
met someone who worked at Ubisoft once at a party....I realised why their games suck and they are more interested in taking all the money they can get....dude had a coke problem and was bragging about being a senior dev working on their latest title whilst throwing a 'bruh' out in every other sentence and stumbling around the party like he was king of the world because of Ubisoft.....bad culture. bad incentives, and when asked about development couldn't even explain anything other than buzz words and was more interested in how much money their micro payments would get them
kderbyma··on Culture Change at Google
Alphabet has ruined it's entire portfolio if measured by the initial vision of each product. They have decimated the once great platforms they developed in pursuit of ever canabalizing their consumers
kderbyma··on John Lasseter drew the BSD daemon logo
Anyone else think about the connection between OSX, Jobs, Pixar, etc....seems like the elite of the tech revolution all were neighbours as usual with industry control
kderbyma··on Amazon R&D spending is more than that of all companies and government of France
taxes. the way that R&D is measured is very tied to the tax code in countries. If R&D is economically promoted (historically the USA has invested much more money into R&D than other nations per capita because other nations tend to favour tax credits as opposed to direct investment - which seems like it opens the door for foreign investment to control a large percentage early in a startups life in exchange for tax credits after investment has dropped into their borders)
kderbyma··on Where Have All the Websites Gone?
search engine's stopped focusing on search and behind the scenes became select engines and they would do the searching in advance.

this was probably sometime around 2012 when the first big hacking scandals on the web that were causing mainstream media to focus on them and those places were routinely pointing out using basic search modifiers in Google to find. Google pulled all the useful operations and neutered their search functionality. Then they worked with a variety of different interest groups to steer the discussions and search results online for optics and political reasons and actively started to monitor and change search queries and inject not just ads but additional content based on various factors.

kderbyma··on You Don't Need More Resilience. You Need Friends. and Money
So true.....I had to turn around and give up many times because the bills needed paying, my parents were just as broke as me, and no rich friends....

I know a ton of people who had their credit cards paid, student loans paid, housing paid, car payments, etc .... parents all gave them the hand outs and helped them and they were able to constantly have fun, socialize and party and meet more and more people....I have been forced to work for reality

kderbyma··on Deaths induced by use of hydroxychloroquine during first Covid wave: an estimate
Seems to be modelled from a single estimation model. not hard data, just estimates on estimates using estimates with no true correlation
kderbyma··on What a WoW virtual outbreak taught us about how humans behave in epidemics(2020)
thank you, some sense.
kderbyma··on U.S. moves closer to filing antitrust case against Apple
and til that people are living sad realities....won't talk to someone because of android....wow....you obviously don't know intelligent people haha
kderbyma··on uBlacklist: Blocks specific sites from appearing in Google search results
Agree. I am so sick of everything turning to shit. profits....bullshit....each one of these so called profit chasing decisions were short sighted and cost them billions and billions and possibly trillions of dollars had they just continued to care about the product and what it was originally meant for
kderbyma··on Electrified cloth extracts uranium from seawater
Metal Gear just found its own little gem of novelty....Motherbase suddenly gets uranium enrichment facilities and offshore drilling gets a new meaning.....
kderbyma··on Comcast says hackers stole data of close to 36M Xfinity customers
Comcast is incompetent and unable to handle the very infrastructure it supposedly offers.....break them up and get this shit show outta here
kderbyma··on Becoming a go-to person gets you promoted
That's like saying you can get a big feast, and be king if you are willing to be the sacrifice afterwards.

promotion for promotion sake is unhealthy, and a symptom of a culture losing its identity
