kcthota··on Protected branches and required status checks
finally...every time there is a release, managers want to lock out the branch.

Gitlab has similar thing to prevent checkins. Glad similar feature is coming to github as well..managers in enterprises will be happy..

kcthota··on Show HN: JobTrial – Try a potential fit, before a fulltime offer
is it a developer posting that I am available for a trial or company posting a job that they have a job offer?

If it's both ways, as a job seeker I would have to go through each item and understand if it's a job offer I could try.

The idea is good. But why twitter? why not a simple email? or probably linkedin is understandable.

kcthota··on Google Cloud sucks
Thanks for pointing out. I am not an alpha user so can't use it. Few months back when I deployed, this feature didn't even exist.

Also it's not possible to setup SSL on Load balancer. EC2 has this support.

So on GC, just for setting up SSL we need another web server or deploy it directly on your app server.

kcthota··on Show HN: Flickverse – Netflix for YouTube movies
Since the content is curated, I had to only target Indian movies for now. :(

Bitbucket
kcthota··on Any.do Cal
exactly what I did..don't want to grant access to my corp calendar..not sure if it would copy my schedule to their servers...

Do not want to give it access to my contacts..

deleted the app.

kcthota··on LinkedIn suffers DNS hijack
fidelity.com is also not accessible. Currently traffic is routed to some domain parking page.
kcthota··on A Personal API
Nice! I like the idea of keeping all the data about me at one place. Given that so many companies are entering the wearable gadgets and personal fitness space, we will surely see some "Personal Portal" and the company making tons of money selling your personal data or showing "relevant" ads for you.
kcthota··on Front-end performance for web designers and front-end developers
Nice article..usually we profile all the pages using YSlow and strive to score >90 on all the pages.

ya..even I thought the same, just like the T-shirts the other day ;)
