kcmastrpc··on Shimano Forces Hammerhead to Remove All Di2 Related Functionality From Karoo
If I'm going down a relatively new descent, I'll use the bike map computer to visually confirm if there is a sharp turn or other hazard that might be on a blind corner (side roads connecting). I only need to glance at it, but it's very useful.
kcmastrpc··on FAA says 5G could impact radio altimeters on most Boeing 737s
It seems to me then the owners of the offending equipment are responsible for the bill. I don't see how you can come to any other logical conclusion.

At least I know why cell service at the airport is awful.

kcmastrpc··on Simula One vs. Quest 2 vs. Valve Index
I've tried SimulaVR and it just crashes on me, constantly. RTX3090, Valve Index, high end CPU, latest drivers. What's the point of desktop productivity software that just blows up all the time?

Perhaps instead of spending time developing and bringing to market new hardware, fix your software first, there are plenty of hardware vendors already in the market but nobody that I'm aware of is taking Desktop Productivity in VR seriously (yet).

kcmastrpc··on Amazon EKS Anywhere
It is by far the easiest installation method I’ve encountered for vmware/vcenter. I plugged in a few variables (Datacenter, VSAN storage pool name, Network name, and resource pool) and in 30 minutes I had a fully production ready cluster installed with all the vsphere cloud provider / csi plugins / etc. installed also.
kcmastrpc··on I might have gone a little bit overboard

kcmastrpc··on AtGames Legends virtual pinball review: The better pre-built choice mostly
Pinball in VR is surprisingly good. Obvious that these are two different things though.

kcmastrpc··on El Salvador Plans to Use Electricity Generated from Volcanoes to Mine Bitcoin
unless the US ramps up nuclear or renewables to a level as of yet unseen, i can see the US building fresh water pipelines to central america in the next 25-50 years.
kcmastrpc··on El Salvador Plans to Use Electricity Generated from Volcanoes to Mine Bitcoin
- given the economies of scale, im guessing that the major 1st world countries will continue to be the most prolific in terms of bitcoin laundering

- of course there are other ways, but given the return on kW/h, what's the _most_ profitable?

kcmastrpc··on On Ransomware and Cryptocurrency
Author opens with a absolute pronouncement and you're gaslighting OP because he did the same thing?

> Let's talk about why cryptocurrency is the single factor that created the ransomware plague that is ravaging our healthcare system and public infrastructure.

kcmastrpc··on Why do older individuals have greater control of their feelings?
Practice, lots of practice. Also, natural selection has a way of deprioritizing people who are emotionally unstable.
kcmastrpc··on US Weather Service Internet Systems Are Crumbling
I've used weather.gov for almost 10 years, and I've observed is become more unstable and unusable over the past decade. If it weren't for local weather gurus who pay for the tools professional meteorologists utilize and broadcast through YT and other social media tools I wouldn't know when to shelter or take cover from some of the intense weather that has moved through our area over the past few years.
kcmastrpc··on Flying a drone into a volcano

kcmastrpc··on EU experts to say nuclear power qualifies for green investment label: document
Yes, they do. If you drive a car, heat your home via gas/electricity, use the internet (to post this) -- you signed up for it.
kcmastrpc··on Nobody designs for small iPhone devices anymore
none of these reasons negate the cost of implementing layouts for _literally every device on the planet_. it's not practical, nor do the bean counters really care because the loss in revenue is very much less than the cost of implementation.
kcmastrpc··on Decoding the Peloton
Nice work. In September / October of last year I was inspired by someone else doing this and showing off they could Zwift with their PTON bike.

After some digging around, and figuring out how they encoded the data it was trivial to implement this in a project that was used to keep Flywheel Bikes working.

https://github.com/ptx2/gymnasticon

The changes I introduced which now include support for the Peloton can be found here: https://github.com/ptx2/gymnasticon/pull/12

kcmastrpc··on Decoding the Peloton
The new version of the bike is much more accurate according to reviews. However, the signal is now transmitted over USB-C, and probably not nearly as hackable.

https://github.com/ptx2/gymnasticon/pull/12

I've already done this.

kcmastrpc··on Decoding the Peloton
Back in October another hacker and myself spent some time figuring all this stuff out as well and made a more practical application of the results here: https://github.com/ptx2/gymnasticon/pull/12

You can already use a rPI and a RS232 USB device to pull metrics off the bike and transmit those signals via BT.

kcmastrpc··on Psilocybin and migraine: First of its kind trial reports promising results
There is an entire class of migraine medications that is based on triptan-class of drugs. They target similar receptors as psilocybin without the psychoactive effects. I've been using triptans for almost a decade to treat migraines.

kcmastrpc··on Garmin services and production go down after ransomware attack
I respect that you're this motivated to remain free from the clutches of the corporate overlords - but damn, it sounds exhausting.
kcmastrpc··on How Nespresso's coffee revolution got ground down
This is exactly why I prefer the Nespresso, there are so many variables to control with pulling my own espresso shots and I really don't want to be bothered with any of it.

I just want a consistent, fresh, and marginally professional espresso without having to become an expert at all the above. It also goes without saying that getting all these variables dialed in, for the most part, doesn't even happen at local coffee shops. There are a few in my area, but they're all at least a 10-15 min bike ride away.
