In this sense hookup culture can relieve such pressure and allows for decoupling the sexual needs, and romantic ones even - personal note: I think it's weird how people online talk as if it's mandatory to mistreat/abandon the people you hook up with. I build a small but nice network of "friends with benefits" which for me are simply friends who enjoy a specific activity. Like, exactly the inverse of what everyone is recomending and it worked for me.
Fleetwood Mac changed their sound a couple of times and they are at the bottom of the ranking as well. Just shows how hard is to measure stuff like this
The rock guys in my HS lab would sit at the only PCs with speakers and blast it loud to everyone else's misery. They did the same with Evanescence/Nightwish, bands for which I developed gratitude from sparing me of those guys same deep raspy voice.
But the main difference was that in Brazil it was just a Government policy that could be removed in a whim, while in Argentina it was a law, enshrined by Congress vote. When the Mexican crisis hit in 1994, it was clear that such measure had limited effect and would become poisonous to the nation's economy. But the Argentinian middle class went balls-deep into the illusion of a cheap dollar (unlike their Brazilian counterpart) and any depegging suggestion was political suicide. Brazil eventually depegged (later than they should, also for political reasons, but it was an obvious decision). Argentina depegged too, but only after the whole nation imploded.
Nostalgia for that illusion is one of the things fueling this vote.
Thank god there's a divide, otherwise I would be obliged to agree with you.
