kaeruct··on Tell HN: I can't buy a PS4 because of my email
I do have a "normal" email that I use for websites like this. I changed my email on my sony account to that.

The biggest gripe I have with this situation is that it was almost impossible to figure out what the real problem was. I had to dig into the request to find the error that the frontend refused to show me.

If they allow me to register an account with a weird email, why does having that weird email prevent me from paying?

kaeruct··on Things you don't need JavaScript for
It's unreadable on desktop Firefox!
kaeruct··on Things you don't need JavaScript for
I can't seem to get the firework example working. Is this supported on Firefox?
kaeruct··on Happy 15th birthday Hacker News
A lot of people hate on Hacker News but personally it's been very helpful for my life. Thanks for everything <3
kaeruct··on Solidjs – JavaScript UI Library
vue reminds me more of angular than this. This is way more similar to React.
kaeruct··on Solidjs – JavaScript UI Library
I thought about that, but it happened to me on Chrome as well.
kaeruct··on Solidjs – JavaScript UI Library
Something's weird with the playground widget on this landing page. I wanted to make the code section bigger to take a better look but when I drag the slider it just goes up, showing a little sliver of code (around 2 lines). Doesn't make a very good first impression.
kaeruct··on Emojimix
I love it but the popups get a bit annoying. Especially because I want to stay on the page but they take me away from it if I click OK.

I think it's okay to plug your other projects and ask for feedback, but maybe open it in a new tab? Or just have regular links in the page, and users will click them if they want to.

kaeruct··on Photoshop will get a ‘prepare as NFT’ option soon
How could this prevent me from taking a screenshot of an existing image and paste it into photoshop, then "prepare it as NFT"?
kaeruct··on Ask HN: What is your story of immigrating to another country?
Costa Rica -> Germany

Would have moved to the US as it's culturally more similar to my country, but Trump had just been elected. I'm very satisfied with my decision.

kaeruct··on A straightforward way to extend CSV with metadata
I cannot tell if this is a joke or not.

If you are serious, then what about just ignoring any files in the zip that are not specified in the standard?

kaeruct··on GitHub’s engineering team has moved to Codespaces
>Just a couple of years ago some kid gained access to every repo on github.

Very curious to know more about this. What exactly are you talking about? Closest thing I could find is this[0], but you said "couple of years ago".

kaeruct··on Launch HN: BlackOakTV (YC S21) – Netflix for black people
I would suggest increasing the contrast on your text and button colors. Also maybe adding a transparent-to-black gradient on the hero video? The copy above it is hard to read while it is loading. Best of luck with this enterprise!
kaeruct··on ASCII Play
I love it. Just a small nitpick, it broke my back button :(
kaeruct··on Nepalese student learns HTML, JavaScript, CSS using just a mobile phone
What is unethical about Nintendo that you mention it among Apple and Samsung? Honest question here.
kaeruct··on When you already know the answer
I never heard of these voices before and I certainly don't hear them, but you have piqued my interest. Is there an exact name for these kind of inner voices?
kaeruct··on Ask HN: I feel my career is at a dead end. Any advice on what could I do?
For a moment I was very confused since I remembered hyperscript being this and existing for a longer time: https://github.com/hyperhype/hyperscript

Hopefully you are already aware of the name clash.

I am definitely interested in your hypescript more than the old one but the name clash is unfortunate.

kaeruct··on You might as well timestamp it
In JS, if (!variable) ... coerces the type to boolean, so anything falsy (0, null, undefined, empty string, etc...) will become true. For example if you have a timestamp of 0, it will be counted as false (but is defined and definitely not null)
kaeruct··on Graphic Designers Have Always Loved Minimalism. But at What Cost?
Cannot get past the blinking eye for some reason. I use Firefox
kaeruct··on Emoji Under the Hood
I'm confused about the part saying flags don't work on Windows because I can see them on Firefox (on Windows). They don't work on Edge though.
kaeruct··on Syntax Highlighting in a Webpage Without JavaScript
I think the point of this article is the constexpr.js library, not the fact that syntax highlighting on the server-side is possible
kaeruct··on Ask HN: Do you create music? let's hear it
I make music on and off since I was a teenager. I always tried to keep it as something to bring me joy instead of letting it consume me by trying to become famous or well-known in some way.

People tell me it sounds like videogame music but videogame music can sound like anything so I never understood what they meant by that.

A few months ago I built a website to showcase the music I made recently, simply by replacing the files and letting people come back and play it https://glitchy.website/

kaeruct··on GitHub refuses to help me unsubscribe from thousands of notifications
I had a very similar issue when I left my previous job. For some reason I was subscribed to all their repositories (even private ones) and I still kept getting notifications. Luckily it wasn't more than 20 pages, but I had to write some code to automate navigating through these pages and unsubscribing from everything.
kaeruct··on Things you should do now (2011)
I've seen blocklist as a replacement for blacklist, but what do people use instead of whitelist?
kaeruct··on Show HN: Ray.so – Create images of your code
Wouldn't this make the code snippets completely inaccessible since you cannot copy text from an image?
kaeruct··on Show HN: Ray.so – Create images of your code
Really hard to use for me on mobile Chrome. Is it supposed to work on mobile?
kaeruct··on Ask HN: What is your “I don't care if this succeeds” project?
This sci-fi [0] music player with automatically generated visualizations. https://glitchy.website/

Eventually I will make it more like an actual music player since right now it only plays one file and provides different seek points so you can jump to the song you want to hear. I think it will also be an interesting way to keep me invested in releasing new music that I can put on it.

[0] Built it using arwes.dev for that sci-fi feel

kaeruct··on Night.fm
Mine gets stuck loading but outputs this in the console

>getting new tracks... >Array [] >couldn't get tracks: Request failed with status code 504

kaeruct··on A free-as-in-freedom re-implementation of Google’s Android user space
It's unfortunate how similar the logo is to Contentful https://i.imgur.com/nnu2AEN.png
