jumperabg··on Multiple Mouse Cursors in Wayland
Imagine working with two separate mouses at the same time - no keyboard.
jumperabg··on AWS: Inaccurate Estimated Billing Data – $1.7 billion
Most likely they also forgot to include "make no mistakes" instructions to their in-house LLM that deploys to production.
jumperabg··on Let's Buy Spirit Air
Interesting, what will happen to the current planes and crews, why would I want to invest and bring back Spirit?
jumperabg··on Experts explore new mushroom which causes fairytale-like hallucinations
If used can we hallucinate and predict the HN news of tomorrow(especially any acquisition related news)?
jumperabg··on American Heart Association says melatonin may be linked to serious heart risks
So if I workout every day, some days do strength training others long runs, cardio, sprints, strides my heart falure risk is higher with the usage of melatonin pills?

Also in the article it mentions that they focus only on groups that have already been prescribed the medication or have diagnosed insomnia or other heart related issues so if you are fully healthy and take it from time to time to recover sleep or change a timezone(when travelling) it might be okay for single time use(I am not a doctor).

jumperabg··on Play snake in the URL address bar
and AI snakes
jumperabg··on Show HN: Tinder but it's only pictures of my wife and I can only swipe right
What if his wife is AI? Are we swiping right on Grok 4?
jumperabg··on Gemini CLI: your open-source AI agent
Maybe Gemini CLI achieved AGI?
jumperabg··on Scientists Develop Artificial Leaf, Uses Sunlight to Produce Valuable Chemicals
... is artificial leafs that create liquid fuel for fusion reactors.
jumperabg··on The best programmers I know
Why would you run your site on Workers instead of the static content hosting? Aren't the workers supposed to be used in case you must do computational work for requests, connect to a db, do some work etc... ?
jumperabg··on New antibiotic that kills drug-resistant bacteria found in technician's garden
Amazing this is another new type of antibiotic that was discovered maybe for the last 6 months?
jumperabg··on Google to buy Wiz for $32B
Interesting, could it be that their software is built by Gemini, the acquisition is managed by Gemini, and the Gemini in Google made a $32B deal with the Gemini at Wiz?
jumperabg··on Cursor told me I should learn coding instead of asking it to generate it
This is quite a lot of code to handle in 1 file. The recommendation is actually good in the past(month - feels like 1 year of planning) I've made similar mistakes with tens of projects - having files larger than 500-600 lines of code - Claude was removing some of the code and I didn't have coverage on some of them and the end result was missing functionality.

Good thing that we can use .cursorrules so this is something that partially will improve my experience - until a random company releases the best AI coding model that runs on a Rassbery Pi with 4GB ram(yes this is a spoiler from the future).

jumperabg··on The Future Is Niri
I am trying to run it on PopOS with a nix flake but doesn't seem to work also the PopOS login screen doesn't seem to support switching desktop environments(might be an issue on my end).
jumperabg··on Australian man survives 100 days with artificial heart
How much power does the heart need to pump the liquid and what is it's life expectancy? Any technical specifications for a product that can work in the human body?
jumperabg··on What would happen if we didn't use TCP or UDP?
We would be sending data via rockets guided by pigeons inside of them.
jumperabg··on Mercator: Extreme
This is information that a specific Earth community must not access, it will cause flat out chaos!
jumperabg··on Camera Ignores Perspective and Sees Behind Walls
Totally clickbait the idea of testing out different lenses is great but in order to see behind the wall he just puts the camera higher around the wall and then makes the picture.

I was personally expecting a breakthrough or a mechanism that is smaller and doesn't go above the object in order to make a picture from the simulated lenses.

jumperabg··on Getting to 2M users as a one woman dev team [video]
Pretty nice, 1 dev 3 team members in total and 1 million users? Are there any other products with such a small team and a huge userbase?

Does this scale and when the business requires more coding and technical debt comes how do they manage it?

jumperabg··on "Hetzner decided to cancel our account and terminate all servers"
When you ride the cloud/ai hype wave you end up with making fast and not very healthy decisions. Same things happen with other providers so whatever is your choice you must have disaster recovery and replication in place. If you wanna go cheap just make some s3 backups on R2, BackBlaze, Wasabi.
jumperabg··on New Mac Mini with M4
Can those live in a data center rack?
jumperabg··on Some Automattic employees accept severance package offer
It would be hilarious of someone started 2 days ago, took the money left and went to WP Engine.
jumperabg··on A $1k Wheelchair
I am not a wheelchair expert but $1k is quite a lot, also there are quite a lot of cheap options in Europe for less than ~$350 and some of them are covered by the public health care system.
jumperabg··on Erasure Coding for Distributed Systems
Are rateless fountain codes the better solution and if are there any systems that are using them?
jumperabg··on Ask HN: How do you personally stay fit?
people can't do that until AI is more advanced and self-serving
jumperabg··on I got tired of hearing that YC fired Sam, so here's what actually happened
