If you want to do systems programming then you need to learn c,c++,rust, maybe go. I mainly write Java/Kotlin and learning C++ and Rust have really helped me learn things about computers that Java hides.
I work with small drones, sUAS, and back in the day some of the guys were too lazy to go to the airfield to fly them and would just go to a beach park instead but it was close to an airforce base and an medium size airport. Anyways they were flying pumas and had the entire police force of the city show up. Luckily the drones they had were fixed wing and designed to just fall out of the sky so they brought them down really quick and got away. I'm sure no one ever figured out who was flying drones in their airspace.
"Supply and demand" is that simple. The timescale is the part throws people off. The supply should increase even if it's just more people deciding to get degrees and experience in a field that is lucrative.
Both NYC and SF are rent controlled areas. Rent control is cancer that punishes younger and newer inhabitants while making rent cheap for the rich. In fact, NYC has more vacant apartments than homeless people.
Because people are attached to their family and friends and also most don't realize that any able body person with an IQ of 100 and a decent work ethic could easily make six digits if they relocated to the right area.
Flutter is the groundbreaking thing about Dart. Other than that it's just Java 1.5 without the killer opensource ecosystem that makes Java relevant to this day. Rust, Swift, and Kotlin all blow Dart out of the water and are much better investments unless Google wants to make Dart the only language their new OS for some weird reason.
I have this thing called self-control and discipline. It doesn't cost anything except respect for one's self. Throwing technology and apps at character flaws isn't a long-term solution for anything and only feeds consumerism and materialism.
I actually had a job where it was relevant. Solving whiteboard problems is half the job of a nuclear field operator. I had to do boards with the captain of the ship, senior enlisted, and the reactor officer to qualify watch stations. The other half of the job is cleaning bilges till you make first class or weasel your way into an office job. It's not a fun job by any means but it paid for my College so I could do something I enjoy, Computer Science.
I use to be a Rad worker and have even cleaned up a few "spills". Nuclear accident fears are based on accidents that occurred in plants that were designed with primitive nuclear technology by people who were just starting to understand the technology. Innovations like pebble bed reactors make release of fission particles highly unlikely. Just like rocket technology though nuclear technology has advanced leaps and bounds. It's also the only power source that could get us to Mars.
Drudge is a pretty good case study in minimalistic design. By most metrics it's ugly and even baroque but it's brilliant because it is easy to parse and gets to the meat of the narrative that Matt is trying to sell to his audience.
The author seems like a very angry person and I couldn't help but not that they seem to think that Capitalism is somehow to blame for all the world's woes.
Honestly modern comedians aren’t even funny. Trevor Noah, John Oliver, Ect just moralize and brow beat anyone who isn’t idealogy pure with mainstream hollywood ethnics.
Good luck with that. I would advise against it having been stationed in Japan, in Yokosuka, on the first Nuclear vessel forward deployed ever. It's an awesome place for tourists but it will never be a place that anyone who is not 100% Japanese can call home. You will always be an outside over there.
With a little planing you can get a college education without putting yourself in debt. I did it. Sure you might have to go to community college for the first two years and eat a lot of ramen noddles but it's more than possible with all the grants, scholarships, and employer matching. Most people have no will power and just take the easy way out not thinking about the long term debt they will have.
I wish I could talk sense into people before they wasted money on college. If you do it right you can get everything paid for like I did through grants, scholarships, and your employer.
I just wish people would realize how much waste producing solar cells causes. At least nuclear waste is largely stored on site and uranium isn't mostly supplied by child slavery. It really was our only chance at clean energy.
