jscipione··on Ted Kaczynski has died
The program continued under a different classified name. Spears gave testimony of abuse by various doctors during her trial. You’ll have to decide for yourself if you think this is related to mk-ultra or not, but many do. There’s also circumstantial evidence surrounding the Mickey Mouse Club and widespread abuse of child actors stretching back decades including everyone’s favorite intelligence asset: the late great Jeffery Epstein.

jscipione··on Ted Kaczynski has died
Brittney Spears comes to mind, she is still under a conservatorship after her mk-ultra caused mental break.
jscipione··on School district sues Meta, Google, and TikTok over ‘mental health crisis’
Social media is not to blame here, HCPSS is to blame for for promoting homosexuality, sexual degeneracy, and radical gender ideology on its students. It is expected that students are angry, violent, and suicidal given the abuse they have experienced at the hands of the leftist authoritarians running this “school” and to a larger extent the whole country.

jscipione··on San Francisco: An Elitist Bubble Ignoring a Crime Epidemic?
You are missing a bunch of things, but the truth cannot be spoken on this site.
jscipione··on Illinois to Become First State to Ban Book Bans
Because adults are still freely able to access the books, while children need protection from hate-filled ideas like Communism.
jscipione··on Illinois to Become First State to Ban Book Bans
I don’t understand it is the school’s job to provide a well-rounded education for students. Classics, freedom, and family values are bedrocks of civilization, “LGBTQIA+” and “Diverse voices” destroy, undermine, and subvert civilization and ought to be banned from school libraries and curriculum for the benefit of society.
jscipione··on Health officials delayed report linking fluoride to brain harm
Once again the conspiracy theory has become a conspiracy. If you get your news and information from Alex Jones you would know about this since at least 2008 making you a well-informed citizen, but if you only get your news from places like Salon you have been misinformed.
jscipione··on Downtown San Francisco is at a tipping-point
The labor shortage is caused by crippling regulations on home building especially in California. Do you really think that Americans are unwilling to work construction jobs? The influx of so many illegals is suppressing wages and destroying the industry for American labor. The reason to vote Republican in 2024 is the same as in 1850: to end slavery, and the reason to vote Democrat is also the same, to preserve the institution of slavery.

Green energy provides negative return on investment, does not create jobs, and those funds could be better allocated solving homelessness.

jscipione··on Downtown San Francisco is at a tipping-point
Illegal immigrants take good paying jobs away from Americans. Employers seek illegal immigrants to lower their labor costs which is good for them but bad for the economy. It’s also morally wrong for 2 reasons: immigration is motivated by white genocide, and 2, it is a substitute for slavery by exploiting immigrants for their cheap manual labor. Green energy might be good for the long term but it is crushing the economy right now during the homelessness crisis.
jscipione··on Downtown San Francisco is at a tipping-point
Lower taxes, lower regulations especially for home builders, reduce immigration, mass deportation of illegals saving trillions of dollars in education and other costs, end bail reform, end reparations, allocate funds to cleanup homeless encampments, create new job opportunities, grant liability protections for police so they can do their jobs, crack down on crime by empowering judges and district attorneys, end the green energy initiatives that are costing the state billions, do a full audit.
jscipione··on San Francisco’s Financial Crisis
Chicago and San Francisco were about to default on their debts before the mass reduction of American living standards through currency inflation payouts to state and local governments to make these city budgets solvent again in 2020 and 2021. I’m paying dearly for it, we all are, whether you live in San Francisco or not. I like many Americans are being crushed financially to pay off debts that I had absolutely nothing to do with creating and never supported in the first place.
jscipione··on Downtown San Francisco is at a tipping-point
Vote Republican to solve the problem, or vote Democrat to make it worse.
jscipione··on George Takei recalls his childhood in an internment camp
The difference you can speak and be heard. I cannot.
jscipione··on The US Might Be Only AA+
The 14th Amendment does not authorize the White House to pay debts without the Congress. The debt ceiling debate is not farcical, it is congressional.
jscipione··on Lenovo profits sink 75% as PC demand continues nosedive
I remember January 2000 very clearly. After the Y2K panic ended (with a whimper) sales dropped, stocks crashed, and we spiraled into a recession with layoffs and consolidation to follow. It seems we are entering a similar pattern now with the Pandemic panic over, sales drying up, stocks tanking, layoffs and a recession.
jscipione··on Poverty Is the 4th Leading Cause of Death in the US, Research Shows
Please do not dehumanize your victims.
jscipione··on Researchers treat depression by reversing brain signals traveling the wrong way
Depression is natural given the state of the world right now. There is nothing wrong with the brains of depressed people, anyone who sees clearly ought to be depressed.
jscipione··on Is sequential IO dead in the era of the NVMe drive?
COW file systems are pretty amazing, especially on flash memory-based storage.
jscipione··on Intel posts largest loss in its history as sales plunge
Something is going on with Xeon-W. Intel started "shipping" Ice Lake Xeon-W in June 2021 [0], yet today in April 2023 major PC OEM vendors such as Lenovo, [1] Dell, [2] HP [3] and Apple [4] are still shipping workstations with the older Skylake Xeons in them and none of them offer a workstation with Ice Lake Xeon-W. Either the chips are not available in volume or a large segment of the PC industry decided not to update their computers to use the new chips.

jscipione··on GUI development with Rust and GTK 4
I wondered how Rust would tackle the problem of creating a GUI without C++/Java style inheritance and now I see the answer: you must explicitly compose all "inherited" traits in your subclass. "Unfortunately, nobody found yet a good way to do that. Which is why, as of today, subclassing of GObjects in Rust requires to mention all ancestors and interfaces ..."
jscipione··on The Apple II Age: How the Computer Became Personal
> ... reading Tandy magazines like 80 Micro and Rainbow [...] from the early 1980s is like visiting a sad and barren alternate world; instead of Origin, Sierra, MicroProse, and SSI, there are much cruder-looking ads from tiny companies offering bad clones of popular arcade games.

This is a nice post with a lot of detail and understanding of computers from that era, but I'd just like to point out that December 1983 was still early days for computer games on personal computers. Looking at the list of games for the IBM PC from 1981-1983 [0] there were only ~75 games total, many of them were text-based ones such as Zork, and while there was for example Ultima 2 by Origin Systems, it's not as if there were a ton of games from the above listed publishers available on the PC at that time and those that existed were also pretty crude.

jscipione··on Twitter won’t allow retweeting tweets linking to Substack
Bait and switch, these platforms only got as big as they did because they allowed unmoderated content, and then once established they bit the hand that fed them, and now they are milking it for all it’s worth as the audiences move on to where they are allowed to speak.

jscipione··on Amazon to lay off 9,000 more workers after earlier cuts
Joe Biden and all Democrats have destroyed the US economy, this is all their fault.
jscipione··on Venus is volcanically alive, new find shows
AFAIK Venus has a similar composition to Earth so it should have enough nickel. The rotation rate of 243.025 days per Earth day on Venus is the real problem for it having a magnetosphere.
jscipione··on Banking in uncertain times
The Federal Funds Target Range chart shows how President Trump was targeted by partisan forces at the fed. Interest rates went up to slow the economy just as soon as Trump was inaugurated in 2016 so that it would appear that President Trump's economic plan was failing. Yet after suffering through two consecutive years of the destruction of the US economy under Joe Biden it is clear that President Trump's economic plan was working well, and that he was railroaded by the Fed that has been weaponized against the American people.
jscipione··on Venus is volcanically alive, new find shows
So then Venus must have a magnetosphere, one step closer to terraforming it. Just add H2 and Sabetier will take care of the rest.
jscipione··on Young people in 13 EU countries refuse surveillance of online communication
There is no freedom of speech in 18 European countries and thus there is no democracy in Europe. Skepticism of authority is warranted including undo surveillance because European governments are deeply authoritarian.
jscipione··on Maybe treating housing as an investment was a mistake
This is a strange takeaway when it’s obvious that the value of housing is not the problem, but the devaluation of our currency by out of control government spending that is to blame.
jscipione··on Seattle could become the first city to ban caste discrimination
Seattle is a third world city filled with rampant vandalism, used drug needles, and drug addled vagrants lining every street corner in makeshift tents. The city government may have banned the caste system but they have made the city worse to live in than the poorest parts of India.
