jruz··on Nvidia to join Dow Jones Industrial Average, replacing Intel
That’s what common sense makes you think, reality is big money needs someone to sell into their NVDA stock and this is how they do it. Just look at what happens to the stocks every time they get added or removed from the index, the complete opposite of common sense.
jruz··on Nvidia to join Dow Jones Industrial Average, replacing Intel
Shit the top is in, time to sell NVDA and buy INTC.

Was fun ride.

jruz··on Toasty, an async ORM for Rust
You’re probably making so much money that don’t care about your Database bill or query performance. ORM is basically a no-code tool for databases, if that solves your problem great, but that’s not something that would scale beyond basic use.
jruz··on Toasty, an async ORM for Rust
Meh, the article makes it sound as if there were nothing and we have already solid options like SeaORM and Diesel.

Still to me they all suck and nothing beats SQLx

jruz··on Should Sports Betting Be Banned?
You don’t ban anything, you make more attractive whatever behavior you want to promote, the paper thinks stocks are better so then make index investing a better alternative.
jruz··on Fighting for the open web [image]
I think this is actually great, users will finally have a reason to switch from Chrome to an open browser. Ofc they will fight back an allow only their browser on their services, which again will be a great push to use open and privacy conscious alternatives. So let them go as closed as they want
jruz··on Code the shortest path first
You’re mixing product decisions with code decisions.

Product should make sure to create an MVP aka the fastest solution for A-B.

Code should be done right no matter what, you’re being paid as an expert to do that, if they would want whatever crappy code gets it done they would do it themselves with some nocode solution and test the hypothesis.

jruz··on Using: Has() as a CSS Parent Selector and much more
Totally unnecessary feature that will do just harm to slow devices than to move the web forward. Lazy developers rejoice.
jruz··on Google Begins Testing Extension Manifest V3 in Chrome Canary
Classic cat and mouse moves. Adblockers will move to OS level so google cant do anything about it. Pi-hole and Network level blockers should also see a rise.
jruz··on I'm Resigning as a Stack Overflow Community Elected Moderator
I would like to see GitHub/GitLab adding a section like SO to the repos, slowly it would build more updated content and the repo owners could moderate. I think the amount of centralized knowledge in SO is not good for the web.
jruz··on Ask HN: How do you build applications that require zero maintenance?
Render to static html, upload to Netlify or S3. Just works.
jruz··on CloudFlare is ruining the internet for me (2016)
Please people do the internet a favor and disable the captcha. Go to Firewall > Settings > Security Level (captcha) And set it to "Essentially Off"

jruz··on Ask HN: Should I move to Berlin?
Dubai has no Berghain, decision is obvious.
jruz··on Why Germans pay cash for almost everything
Agreed, most places in Berlin won't take cards or only take EC cards. That has made me use cash, and not fear of any kind.
jruz··on Ask HN: Best linux laptop right now?
I would get a macbook. I use Arch 90% of the time but usually I'm dealing with poor battery life and not rock solid wifi, but I can stand both. If I need long battery life or really stable wifi I would just boot OSX and run Arch on VMware with my /home partition mounted and work from there. Also you get the chance to do some iOS development in case you are into that.
