Same reason people are on their phone in meetings
But we don’t know how to use them, we catch ourselves scrolling unaware, we use them in front of our children, in meetings when we’re bored, at restaurants…
Telling children not to use them while we do it at all inappropriate times is pure hypocrisy. If anything we should teach them (and ourselves) how to use them responsibly from early age onwards.
Coincidentally the audio recording of the conversation was apparently deleted …
Source: other people, so not very reliable
Edit: the click-through link actually mentions 3-8 degrees
We're looking for similar places in EU or US timezones, but - contrary to information for digital nomads - it's hard to find information about good places to live as a family...
I haven't lived in America so I can't compare, but compared to Europe, Thailand to a certain extent feels like Southern Europe, eg Portugal, Spain, Italy IMO. Not only the weather, also efficiency, organisation, less focus on families, ...
For me Google Reviews are a top make or breakpoint when deciding a hotel. I can imagine other people doing the same Hence there is an incentive for hotels to game the system
I recently moved to Phuket and many very mediocre hotels (or plain shabby hotels) get very high ratings (4.5+) and very positive reviews. Hotel competition is cut throat here so hotels definitely have an incentive to game the system.

Then I figured it's about whether it's actually working right now
In some countries people seem totally disconnected and frustrated (France, Italy come to mind), in others people feel a personal responsibility to make their country a success (Scandinavian countries come to mind)
That to me seems a better indicator for the future
I have never been there so I don't know but in general I feel big cities are not an ideal place with children, we prefer to live in a house, with a garden, and (ideally) close to the beach.
I think the beaches in BA are a 4 hour drive?
I feel more a nomad, rather than an expat. Expats are imo paid by their company to go work in some other place (full expenses paid). Nomads make their own choices. But it seems most of the world has a different interpretation.
Maybe I'll adopt the "slowmad" title.
Which multiple locations did you choose?
Two things hold me back:
1. Seems purchasing a house starts at around 1 million usd, even somewhere in the middle of nowhere 2. It's so safe and organised, my kiddos would grow up too untroubled and carefree :D !
