- Infinite scroll allows you to find information faster, even from not so notable sources
- Privacy means you can search freely and do research on issues that will probably not be found out on a civil case (patents, papers, dev articles etc).
- Bangs allow for a streamlined, faster search experience if you use certain services massively.
- Search results are very simple. No knowledge graph boxes, etc. So you can just get the content you want.
- Less (irrelevant) advertisements when you leave the search engine. You will be tagged by the content you consume and not the one you search due to privacy settings.
- Your personal data will be safe in case of a Google hack.

But to be clearer, let's rephrase and say that "Adobe the company has had a rough decade".
In other words, for many important websites, Flash was the JavaScript of today (far reaching, with critical appearances in both the back and front-end).
Business Reasons: Adobe has had a rough decade. The Macromedia acquisition was a red pill (IMHO) for many at the company. The company has been dramatically slow in adapting to a new Web. Several major projects have failed or under-performed. All and all, Adobe has bigger fish to fry than to procure their developer base of a free/low-cost migration solution.
Other Reasons: 1)The nature of proprietary software - a lot has been written about this so feel free to look it up on the Web but basically its hard to just discontinue software without facing several non-trivial legal challenges. 2) The Steve Jobs Effect - or the curse of having a major figure accelerate the demise of a product that should have evolved into an open standard. 3) The Adobe Coldfusion Effect - Macromedia/Adobe has a product called ColdFusion Server that used Flash technology A LOT to differentiate itself, however the transition strategy adopted by Adobe didn't immediately discontinue Flash support for ColdFusion generated reports (for example) and such a direction made developers less likely to invest in a quicker migration to HTML5.
I feel your pain and, at this point, would also like to see Adobe pull the plug once and for all. But we live in a complicated world, for better or worse.

10 things you need to know about Mt. Gox's Bitcoin implosion - From PC World (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2105280/10-questions-on-the-m...)
1. Stolen Passwords Success seems to have bred complacency at the highest levels of Mt. Gox. In June 2011, about $8.75 million in bitcoin was stolen from the exchange through an online attack using stolen passwords. Any security improvements implemented since then were obviously not up to scratch if the latest loss is the result of a massive heist. Anecdotal accounts have suggested a corporate culture that tended toward laissez-faire rather than strict diligence.
2. Transaction Malleability How do you lose 850,000 bitcoins? That, of course, is the million-dollar (or bitcoin) question. The coins may be missing due to a long-known security flaw called transaction malleability that can in some cases enable fraudulent withdrawals. Some observers and investors, however, are accusing the company of fraud, even alleging the collapse was an orchestrated scheme. Other commentators have said Mt. Gox had the best intentions but was just poorly managed.
- The battle for talent - The battle for capital - The battle for partnerships - The battle for distribution, etc
In the context of the article I also make the argument of startups being at war with the government and even customer that are hesitant to adopt new technologies. Take the case of Uber for example. Class act Blue Ocean against the status quo albeit at war against governments, similar rising companies, etc.
If widely adopted, Wifi Aware could redefine social networking and finally enable the now infamous "elastic social networks". A dynamic collection of these elastic networks could be thought of as a "civic network" or a new paradigm in social networking that allow us to share and connect with people nearby to discover placer, crowd-shop, get better POVs on stadiums, take 3D photos and videos, share files in conferences and classrooms, become citizen reporters and profoundly change interactions in every naturally occurring group of people. Quoting one of my essays (The Case For A Global Civic Network, http://www.jordhy.com/the-case-for-a-civic-network):
---- What Facebook is to a club, this next property needs to be to the “open society”. An open collaboration place that is less intimate than your social network of choice, but still manages to embed intelligence, security and structure into our daily interactions. If you think of society and civility as the protocols that make us productive offline, then the idea of a civic network emerges as the tools that will make us productive as a “hive” or significant group of people. Indeed, this is a big idea, but one that could change our world for the better and have a disruptive impact for generations to come. ----
While I'm skeptical, I think that Wifi Aware is a huge step into such a vision and, if widely adopted, could create new possibilities for developers and users.
