I like PRs; they let me easily solicit feedback without risking impacting master (or other "shared" branches). I could tay, "how do you feel about this change?", but it's so much easier to say, "I propose this exact diff, what do you think?". Now, caveat: I'm in a distributed team that's already async and operates nearly like a FOSS project, so even OP seems to accept that PRs might suit us.
