jonathanchiu··on Show HN: New App - WhatYouHateAbout.Me
True. We considered that too. But we felt that 'hate' might help with the marketing a little bit because it's a more polarizing word. It might not be as appropriate, but we felt that it makes it sound a little more interesting, you don't think?

And it's a little easier to say than whatyoudislikeabout.me or some other ones we thought about.

Yeah, i agree the logo might need some work.

Facebook login allows you to see other friends who have also connected to the app so you can comment on their pages, it helps make the app a little more viral.

Since it's such a small app, I thought just having a facebook login might make it more straightforward. But you definitely have a point. I personally feel that fb login provides a lower sign up barrier, but I guess there are many that feel otherwise.

jonathanchiu··on Is my new app infringing on the copyrights of Justin Timberlake's movie?
I made an app called 'Friends with Benefits' (fwb-game.com) and soon found out that Justin Timberlake has a new movie (fwb-movie.com) coming out in a few months time with the same title. So I decided that it might be a good idea to repackage my app a little bit to leverage the exposure that the movie will get.

But I'm not sure if I've gone too far.

The logo, for example, using the same color scheme, but I didn't copy it exactly from them, I used a slightly different font.

I'm just wondering if what I did will get me in trouble.

My first ever app. Feedbacks are much appreciated.

Can't agree more.

We did see many 'friends with benefits' groups on facebook, so we didn't think facebook would care too much about it.

Yeah that makes sense too. I guess it's hard to grow when I limit my users too much.

About the logo, I kind of agree with you. We're not designers, we just thought the plus sign kind of conveys friends + something extra. It took us a few minutes to do and it looks alright so we just let it go.

Yeah, the second method does seem to make more sense. But I don't think filtering out a few family members matter much when you have hundreds of friends.

What do you feel about $5 for a match though?
