They may be addicted to the convenience of the gadgets if
anything. Nobody rings the doorbell anymore, they stand in
front of the door and call you from their cell.
It's a good entertainment read but taking apart a hedge
to prove a point can get misleading pretty fast. For instance,
if you don't like Goldman's shorts, Goldman could have created the same hedge results by taking a long position in gold. Hopefully the result of the discussions will lead to better transparency.
I know when I upgrade applications I want to hesitate since some previous upgrades have changed the user interface significantly enough that it does take a while to "relearn"
the interface.
Mozilla might try to query those who have upgraded to show that "down time" is at a minimum, if seen at all, and one can contribute to the growth of the browser by doing so.
I have seen that before in another language, the box read:
Jokes aside, that's pretty good for so little code. Well documented too. Makes the previous language it was written in look like a slug.
They advertise her in return for her services would be a better conclusion. Looks like matching services is the business they are in so it is not so far fetched. From her feedback, she does a great job.
Given the even point spread over the comments on this thread, the verdict is still out. Something's going to work, and I haven't found it yet so it will be interesting how this pans out. I definitely would want something where I can grab the headlines I like and the ability to drill down deeper in the articles.
Magnetar says it was "market neutral," meaning it would make money whether housing rose or fell.
Sounds like they were acting as market makers to me.
Taking up risky long positions and hedging with short positions to protect the downside. Sounds like whoever took
the risk of the short position misjudged the cost of that risk.
They are all pretty good but "Avoid unnecessary branches."
and "avoiding goto" are top of my list. Usually is a red flag to me that the programmer has conceptualized the program
but not taken the second step to split the program into smaller workable parts before starting the project.
Drat, they stole my idea. Once the "like" button is in place
Facebook has to do only two thing to start raking in the money. First step is to collect profiles of Facebookers comings and goings to each button, then secondly place ads on the "like" button sites based upon the profiles. End result: Ad placement based upon user profiles. Deal done.
Drugs might work for the very short term but in the long term
not so. Try Toastmasters. Not only will you learn how to speak in public but meet everyone else who is in the same boat.
Hold on a minute. The trade imbalance between the U.S. and China is the argument for Yuan revaluation and it still exists the last time I looked. China's Deficit is probably
due to the amount of raw materials being exported to China
from the likes of Australia and others. I have read that so
much raw copper sits in China's warehouse there is talk of a price crash in that market. So needs more investigation is my take.
The article is actually worthy of discussion.
You can look at both American Chopper and Tiger Woods
as a Brand - vs - Privacy - vs - Entertainment trade off. Both parties maximized their value by Branding themselves. Good for your net worth but very bad on your Privacy and eventually as your career turns a entertainment factor kicks in as well. I would say that golfers like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nickolas, a Greg Norman chose different Branding strategies to market themselves with better and more stable results.
I always have known what my programs did and what they were going to be used for so I find it difficult that these programmer did not. So if your Boss tells you to program something illegal you would have no problem doing so. I would say, OK that's fine but before we start lets discuss this with your Boss, the three of us first. The judge gets to decide on the M. programmers.
I would agree about Apple making sure of a "positive user experience". By changing the price you piss off those who bought too high. People who feel cheated do not make good repeat customers. And in this case I would have gotten rid of the problem the same way Apple did.
The weekend project is a good way to find out what it takes
to work a project from start to finish. Then when you get a
group together you have already been-there-done-that once before, just on a smaller scale.
I just wrote a program to trade stocks. The testing makes around 30% annually. I don't believe it since I know myself too well but can't see where the error is. Put your money in an account, let me trade for 6 months live and see what happens. I can send you "testing proof" except the code for review. Would automate it if it does work. One last thing, taxes on this might be the killer but compounding after a few years might make it worth it..
I think the article is misdirected.
A few years ago Japan increased their money supply by 30%
to dig themselves out of their depression and it failed to work. So increasing the money supply I doubt will work any better here in the U.S.
All those people now being foreclosed on should have had their loan applications disqualified. That responsibility falls to Washington to regulate, not the Federal Reserve, and the biggest scream that "you can't do that" would have been Washington, not the Federal Reserve I believe.
It would be interesting to find out the computer literacy
of those people involved. For a non computer literate person,
having a computer take over for even a second I would think would scare them in doing all sorts of things.
I would say be "smart" ruthless, not "dumb" ruthless. That
guy would destroy a startup. A person who has more leadership skills will be able to get to the top without dumping on everyone along the way.
My use of ad blocking came about the same time viruses came to a head and I decided to shut them all down to solve the problem. Maybe what's needed is a more intelligent ad-blocker that can discriminate against the more intruding ads and leave the "see and click" ads alone..
Build more stuff, Marketing, Back office support. Poking around with what you could do with email would be constructive. They nailed down email to blogs going so how about the other way around. For example, I'm starting to get a lot of magazines sent to me by email and I want them somewhere else so how about picking them up from email and placed to a magazine folder on the desktop automatically. Click on the magazine folder object sends you to the article.
That's a good list of suggestions to deal with difficult people. Getting flustered sure isn't the answer. When I am having difficulties with someone and they say: I have no idea what you’re talking about, it's red flag time, and I'll tell
myself I will have to handle this person differently..
