Buyers and sellers come together of their own free will, unencumbered by interfering third parties and exchange money for goods and services.
There are a lot of comments in this thread proposing some kind of interfering in these transactions.
Don't like Amazon or Anthropic digitizing rare books? Then buy them yourself and stop with the kvetching.
When there's a gun shooting we don't blame the gun we blame the user.
People commit crimes. They might use a computer, a baseball bat or a hammer. We don't hold the computer, baseball bat or hammer responsible.

It's in the corporate DNA, just like Embrace-Extend-Extinguish is in Microsoft's DNA.
Let's not ruin it for everybody else with this so-called "age verification" BS. This is all about adding more information to what Meta and Google and Bing already know about Internet users. Information they monetize by selling ads and sharing it with authoritarian governments.
Those same people feel that they can detect AI-generated works?
Those same people have the audacity to spread their uninformed opinions online?
Those same people are spreading their harmful opinionated content online, actually causing real harm to real artists.
This proves the old adage that opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and they stink.
I've been following David Revoy for years and purchased his Pepper & Carrot books, long before machine learning and large language models got into the hands of unskilled people. He is right to complain.
!!!Exactly!!!
If Apple comes up with smart glasses then user privacy will be job one. For meta it's all about collecting data to sell ads. Period.

People need to deGoogle themselves. Also they need to deMeta themselves. Go read what Obi-Wan Kenobi said about the Mos Eisley Space Port.
Google is no different than Meta. Both collect as much personal information they can about Internet users even when they don't have an account with them. The business model is to monetize this data by selling it to data brokers directly, to sell targeted ads using the data and to quietly make it available to authoritarian governments so that privacy laws are not enacted to make surveillance capitalism illegal.
Go with Kagi and Apple.
This little app simply leverages an existing API offered by Windows. Apple has a similar API for macOS.
But I appreciate Dave Plummer's concern about bloat. You only have to look at the Windows 2000 spartan system requirements to wonder WTF Microsoft is thinking with the bloatware that is Windows 11.
Given today's high RAM prices, lean mean software is cool again.
If OP would consider open sourcing it I'd be interested in working with it.
I also don't object to paying for something I find useful or valuable. But I really hate subscription-ware.
But I'm a local-first privacy-focused user and only by self-hosting a tool am I comfortable using it.
So for me this tool is also a no-go.
cd ~/Applications
git clone https://github.com/katspaugh/ichinichi.git
cd ichinichi
yarn install # build it or
yarn build # build it or production
yarn dev # launch it.
Now open a web browser to http://localhost:5173/
"Unauthorized software" is a thing where you work? OMFG.
No privacy loving person will comply with Discord on this matter.
Discord is doomed to only have weak compliant users on its platform.
Fixed that for you, and I agree fully with that assessment.
- Small caps, no problem. - Multilevel heading numbering, no problem - Table of Authority, no problem - Line numbers, no problem. - Paragraph numbers, no problem. - For missing features the community is more than capable of providing extensions to fill the gap. Redlining would be an example.
Along comes a Luddite and puts icons on it, totally ruining its beauty. For fsck's sake! Just No.
Thankfully, along comes GNOME and it just says No.
I agree.
