jofzar··on Australian energy retailers must provide three hours of free daytime electricity
> but if price swings are this wild, how are grid scale batteries not highly economical

They are super economical in Australia and the government even offers discounts and interest free loan of 15k to buy them.

jofzar··on Since Chromium 148, Math.tanh is now fingerprintable to link underlying OS
Damn I literally came here to say "it's nice to see an actual disclaimer!"
jofzar··on Fixed three bugs that made Qwen3.5-122B a daily driver on Mac Studio
Thats honestly a load bearing phrase, it truely wires clean sentences together, would be a footgun with an unknown blast radius if you didn't use it.
jofzar··on Why it's so difficult to produce American-made medical gloves
Looks like most/all manufacturing happens in the SEA/China, so I can see the logic that it could be considered a military risk for it to not be manufactured/possibility to scale manufacturing in America.
jofzar··on SpaceX wants to launch 100k more Starlink satellites for 100x the bandwidth
I have a friend who does not live that remote in Australia and his choice is either "satellite" internet or starlink.

It's not even a choice because "skymuster" (the satellite option) can't even be considered internet. I remember him taking about getting 7 seconds of latency at one point. It's actually impressive how terrible it is.

jofzar··on GitLost: We Tricked GitHub's AI Agent into Leaking Private Repos
Actually op, can you clarify if you did this with the below setting on? There is a literal setting to stop this so I'm curious if this was created because of this report or if this is just negligence from the reporter to not add this as a comment.

jofzar··on GitLost: We Tricked GitHub's AI Agent into Leaking Private Repos
> Responsible Disclosure GitLost was responsibly disclosed to GitHub. Vulnerability details are shared here with their knowledge.

Why does this section not have when it was fixed or GitHub acknowledge/rejected this?

Did they not fix this?

jofzar··on We're extending access to Fable 5 on all paid plans through July 12
Unless they change it so there's no data training/retention for fable, I don't even understand what company is using API fable.
jofzar··on Has_not_been_viewed_much
It's more that they then go to the "low view" threshold then are no longer viewed and because the date is hard coded then it will never show any more.

I agree it's the point of the project but it's a bit of a shame someone could go to the site and see no art.

jofzar··on Has_not_been_viewed_much
Cool project, it's actually a shame if it gets popular enough then it won't return anything
jofzar··on The bottleneck might be the air in the room
You can also get the IKEA one which uses a good sensor

jofzar··on Why I'm Forced to Say Farewell: Google Management Has Lost Its Moral Compass
1992 is actually insane, this is before common commercial email.
jofzar··on A way to exclude sensitive files issue still open for OpenAI Codex
Neat tool! Will have to check it out

Edit: would love a couple of pictures/video of how you use it. I kind of get the idea, but it seems like more hassle then it would be worth?

Your comment of codex makes it seem like I might be missing something tho.

jofzar··on OAuth for all
We had a security report for a oauth vuln and it was the worst thing I have ever read, the whole thing is like spaghetti that "just works" until it doesn't because you feed it something similar.

Never want to touch oauth, it's a fucked spec.

jofzar··on Fired by Google for creating the Google workspace CLI
My bet is that he was reprimanded for this and then didn't back down, hes even in the comments here now arguing about it
jofzar··on Codex logging bug may write TBs to local SSDs
Imo codex is significantly better then Claude code for me ATM.
jofzar··on Codex logging bug may write TBs to local SSDs
This is actually such a classic blunder (shipping trace/debug logging on for everything), but funnily the impact is not in a normal way.

It's crazy we have hit a point where memory, CPU speed and disk speed isn't getting clapped because a Dev shipped logging at trace level instead of what used to the application being catastrophically slow so its immediately fixed in the next update.

jofzar··on Codex logging bug may write TBs to local SSDs
Ugh this one's gets me so bad, same with "wire" and "wired" everything is wired to something.
jofzar··on Codex logging bug may write TBs to local SSDs
> Codex is one of the most infamous examples of slopware

Woah, let's not forget Claude code is right there

jofzar··on GLM 5.2 vs. Opus
Assuming I have 20k to run my own version of GLM?
jofzar··on GLM 5.2 vs. Opus
I hate to be that guy, but real privacy policy on training data/it being hosted somewhere where I'm not worried about secrets being stored/leaked.
jofzar··on GLM 5.2 vs. Opus
Great article,

My only, I guess feedback, is that it's not really clear about the price.

Would the 21.92 be the API pricing I guess?

Cost $5.39 (real billed) ~$21.92 (estimate, list pricing)

jofzar··on Hey, n00b, we didn't hire you to complete tasks
> We seniors have our regular work to do, but we also have to figure out which category you fit into. We support the superior performers as much as we possibly can. We support the solid performers enough to help them mature. Brutal as it seems, we’d like to expend as little effort as possible on people who aren’t going to make it.

Holy crap this person has only ever worked in toxic work environments

jofzar··on Midjourney Medical
Theoretically if this was possible (and I doubt it is, like c'mon) then it could be used for early detection of cancer.
jofzar··on Midjourney Medical
Surely they have a paper or something on this?
jofzar··on Midjourney Medical
This is the most "getting high on your own supply" I have ever seen.

What the hell are they talking about. This is no way real and a late April fools joke right? Right?

jofzar··on Leaked OpenAI financials show $38.5B loss and compute burn
I wonder if that includes discounts/commissions for enterprise api bundling (ie cheaper for partner company XYZ if they include openai in their app)
jofzar··on Leaked OpenAI financials show $38.5B loss and compute burn
One of these two should be the main link tbh
jofzar··on Apple's weird anti-nausea dots cured my car sickness
> EDIT: Actually there's an enormous number of apps like this, many released very recently with similar style etc. Weird.

It's mostly just Devs copying apples feature, nothing too weird about it

jofzar··on SpaceX to buy Cursor for $60B
Been very impressed by the codex app tbh
