They will follow through with it, it's because they want to get the money of the people who embedded it into their system and lazy to change it.
jofzar··on MiMo v2.6
It's incase you want to recreate this scene from who framed Roger rabbit in svg form, duh.

jofzar··on Cloudflare Quick Tunnels
"Traffic routes via Cloudflare's network"?
jofzar··on Cloudflare Quick Tunnels
5 years ago imo it was less relevant, if you showed me this then I would be like "cool tech, but other then a specific scenario, why would I care"
jofzar··on iCloud+ Hide My Email addresses will remain on icloud.com
It's email reputation, it the always the answer with this kind of stuff.

My guess is that the bounce rate got too high and bot farms were using iCloud addresses like this.

jofzar··on Wi-Fi 8 is the first wireless upgrade in years that isn't chasing speed
I had a TP-Link deco, which while great as mesh, you couldn't limit the speed of certain devices. Which was again fine, except when the PlayStation 5 in a room could literally saturate the whole 250mbs bandwidth of my internet and when it would do an update would make our whole houses internet unusable.

It's seriously impressive how it wasnt possible to set per device speed limits or even QoS which has been a thing since like 2007

jofzar··on Sol loves to cheat
Not related to exactly OP post, but it's pretty amazing you can see the updates to LLM models "design" beliefs by the blogs that get posted here.

I'm already sick of this current look of the hard squares and solid colours.

jofzar··on Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?
Yeah I'm using this and have been happy with it.
jofzar··on OpenAI’s head of ethics leaves less than a year after joining
It's silicon valley, literally everything is for pay or be homeless
jofzar··on LFM2.5 2.6B model competitive with 4x larger models
I use luna to schedule my work day for me and then put it in todoist.
jofzar··on Muse Code and Muse Spark 1.2
I hate to say this and this is because I fucking despise meta. But between DeepSeek and Meta, and trust they handle the training data correctly, I trust meta.
jofzar··on Qwen3.8-Max: A New Bar for Coding and Cowork
No I haven't had time to spend my afternoon rock climbing while ai generates documentation.

It's infinite work, I just did more work while codex was doing it's thing in the background.

jofzar··on Qwen3.8-Max: A New Bar for Coding and Cowork
Lmao I love their video with the idea that people will be able to do their hobbies while ai does their job.

Surely Alibaba is leading by example here by reducing work hours per week while keeping pay the same right? Right?

jofzar··on Ten advances in mathematics and theoretical computer science
Honestly just a bit burnt out on posts like this
jofzar··on Advancing the price-performance frontier with GPT‑5.6
Wasn't it down last weekend?
jofzar··on Netflix employee fired for sharing personal details in retreat trust exercise
Mate needs to move down to Australia, he would have been promoted after showing that off.
jofzar··on Cloudflare's new AI traffic options for customers
We had googlebot blast a random customer system and almost cause an outage, this is when I first learnt that google will use it for AI training also. It's honestly kind of frustrating also because you then search on it and theres (was) nothing on how you are meant to "correctly" tell google to fuck off, and not use it like that.
jofzar··on Zero roadkill as Amazon canopy bridges secure 15,000 crossings
They actually learn it, what's more crazy in Australia is that we have videos of some birds (bush turkeys/swans) using zebra crossings to cross because they know it's safe.
jofzar··on Zero roadkill as Amazon canopy bridges secure 15,000 crossings
Huh I'm surprised these aren't more common around the world? We have these in Australia and they work great
jofzar··on Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta warn against overregulating open-weight models
Microsoft/azure has a big advantage because companies will literally pay extra then "free market" cost of open models purely for the knowledge that the won't fuck around with their data retention policy.
jofzar··on Claude Opus 5
It's $0/close to 0, they aren't at 100% demand so any leftover compute is "not spent".

The cost they are quoting is API cost, so it's already inflated on that.

jofzar··on Claude Opus 5
Yes but grok has the literal track record of our of the box uploading your whole codebase, secrets included to a remote box.
jofzar··on Gemini 3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite, and 3.5 Flash Cyber
Imo it's a very stupid test, and should not be used for model performance.

But you bet my ass I check everytime to have a look at see how that pelican looks, it's just a fun check and also interesting to see the cost/results.

jofzar··on Ask HN: Is it just me, or is software buggier across the board?
I feel like no one has said the elephant in the room.

QA teams were fired/never hired in the first place (put onto the Devs/support/customer to report and test)

Management want features and selling not Lovability and polish. We are just hitting an all time of make make make.

jofzar··on Cursor 0day: When Full Disclosure Becomes the Only Protection Left
I'm not a windows developer or a ide developer, but I would check the hash against known good git.exe and then only run if it matches it.
jofzar··on Australian energy retailers must provide three hours of free daytime electricity
> but if price swings are this wild, how are grid scale batteries not highly economical

They are super economical in Australia and the government even offers discounts and interest free loan of 15k to buy them.

jofzar··on Since Chromium 148, Math.tanh is now fingerprintable to link underlying OS
Damn I literally came here to say "it's nice to see an actual disclaimer!"
jofzar··on Fixed three bugs that made Qwen3.5-122B a daily driver on Mac Studio
Thats honestly a load bearing phrase, it truely wires clean sentences together, would be a footgun with an unknown blast radius if you didn't use it.
jofzar··on Why it's so difficult to produce American-made medical gloves
Looks like most/all manufacturing happens in the SEA/China, so I can see the logic that it could be considered a military risk for it to not be manufactured/possibility to scale manufacturing in America.
jofzar··on SpaceX wants to launch 100k more Starlink satellites for 100x the bandwidth
I have a friend who does not live that remote in Australia and his choice is either "satellite" internet or starlink.

It's not even a choice because "skymuster" (the satellite option) can't even be considered internet. I remember him taking about getting 7 seconds of latency at one point. It's actually impressive how terrible it is.
