Side-note: don't start a band with those chords.
Any plans on supporting native platforms in the future (sorry if I missed it in the docs)?
I see we're rounding up now.
I can think of very few areas in software development where there is this much innovation & diversity in frameworks & approaches to building something. Maybe our approach to usability has failed with all our "necessary" popups & cookie dialogues - there I agree. But to say "front end development" has failed simply because its evolved is a bit myopic IMO.
Much of human communication is useless (on the surface).
> A trick I’ve developed, when giving my contact info to new people, is to enter my phone number on their smartphone myself, and install Signal for them
Pretty invasive. Also where I started thinking maybe the author just preferred for everyone to be on their medium of choice (rather than they be on somebody else's medium of choice).
Sooner or later we all make mistakes, but very important to remember that if you're the one holding the pitchfork - your turn might be up next. So, be kind. And if you're the one making the mistake: figure out what/why/how. And try again.
> This absolutely hasn't eventuated - once again, applications are the problem. Photoshop's codebase and Instagram's codebase no doubt have sophisticated Image objects defined, but each only exists within its gated prison.
Photoshop & Instagram's "Image object" are not what make them good. What makes them good is their "Image object" in the context of their eco-system (app/platform/userbase/DESIGN/integrations/etc).
A building is (and has always been) the sum of it's parts.
The only people I've EVER heard talk positively about this is Google & other Flutter Developers that don't seem too concerned about web standards.
