jmportilla··on Blackhawk 3 Pro: American-made drone for consumers
Are these American-made? Looks like they are just rebranded Hubsan drones from China: https://www.hubsan.com/na/

The original website even says they are made in Hong Kong: https://exodrones.com/pages/our-practices

jmportilla··on Tesla AI Day [video]
No one here talking about the freaking humanoid bot?!?

Also interesting to see how focused they are still on pure vision input to construct the vector space instead of just using LIDAR, but I wonder how limited they are by existing models already being out there with set hardware.

jmportilla··on OpenAI Codex
Very cool, will be interesting to see if this is ever added in to VisualStudio as some sort of "super" auto-complete.

jmportilla··on Ask HN: Did Online Course Lead into a Job for Anyone?
I teach online courses and have had students report back to me that the course helped them get a job or pass an interview, but it's pretty much always in addition to their own self study and experience. an online course can definitely help you get a job, but it alone probably won't be enough. although more and more I see online courses or degrees that guarantee a job or your money back, do that might be with checking out.

jmportilla··on The piracy paradox at Udemy (2015)
Udemy does do copyright reviews for approval to the marketplace but I think they are just contractors though, so I can definitely see how courses could slip by, with someone being unsure if it was a copyright infringement or just licensed content.
jmportilla··on The piracy paradox at Udemy (2015)
Yes, in fact they took down the course in question the next day after it was reported: https://blog.udemy.com/maintaining-the-integrity-of-our-udem...
jmportilla··on The piracy paradox at Udemy (2015)
Udemy basically has a similar piracy to YouTube. If someone reports the content as copyright, Udemy looks into it and takes it down. They also now actively check for copyright infringement when approving a course for their marketplace. As far as any money exchanged, it just gets refunded (in the case posted here, only free coupons were used, so no money was exchanged).

The CEO posted a blog on this event: https://blog.udemy.com/maintaining-the-integrity-of-our-udem...

Basically Troy's course got posted on Nov 18th,it was reported on Thanksgiving Day, and it was taken down the next day.

jmportilla··on Using Doc2Vec to Suggest SubReddits
Thanks! I'll fix it
jmportilla··on Using Doc2Vec to Suggest SubReddits
I think your thinking of just a classic collaborative filtering recommendation system.A simple w2v system would take into account all words, then have to be filtered by words that are equal to subreddits. Although, I may have misunderstood your suggestion.
jmportilla··on Using Doc2Vec to Suggest SubReddits
I used the gensim Doc2Vec implementation. You can check out some of the source code here: https://github.com/jmportilla/Reddit2Vec
