~ $2000 for whole genome sequencing (WGS). Whole exome sequencing is cheaper but much less precise, ~$700.

Java 10 added the var keyword so it has some type inference finally.
jklehm··on Square wants to be a bank but not be taxed like one
Is the idea that they are never refactored? I don't know that that's true, we see changes to the regs somewhat often: simplifications, clarifications typically?
jklehm··on Square wants to be a bank but not be taxed like one
I think most regs were driven by events or behaviors at the time of their creation.

To revert them I'd hope there'd be a compelling case as to why the catalyst that brought the regs into existence no longer applies or will not reappear in the future.

I'm not sure that it's an easy process.

jklehm··on Fridge Condenser Fans – Old and New [video]
Agreed! Documented specs for any every manufactured good would be amazing.
jklehm··on Fridge Condenser Fans – Old and New [video]
I think you have your answer already. If you want reliability you pay for it by buying the commercial/industrial version that commits to specs upfront and outlines the cost of maintenance for the life cycle of the device.

Not saying what the consumer focused side of these businesses is doing is right but there is a work around with defined costs out there.

jklehm··on Show HN: I Built a “Google Alerts” for Hacker News
On the chance you hadn't seen it, I must mention this aggregator[0] since it addresses the issue you are facing down with your alerts except async.

jklehm··on 28% of Europeans Can't Afford a 1 Week Annual Holiday
The point is the bonus points for spending x in 3 months not the points for the spend. 60k bonus points for the first 4,000$ spent is definitely worth..most points are 1.5 cents or so.

You can still do it. CLEP [0] is one standard way. You can also request credit by examination for courses not covered by CLEP...this requires departmental approval and paying for a custom exam to be created.

CodeWeavers takes corporate sponsorship of specific fixes that an application needs to be supported. First the MVP version ends up in their commercial product. Once the fixes required for a given app are cleaned up and refactored they roll these back into the opensource Wine project.
jklehm··on Wine 3.0 Released
.Net 4.5[1] seems to be well supported at this point. Windows 7 has partial support[2], it really depends what pieces of the windows API are in use.

What is the name of the app?
