jjangkke··on Antislop: A framework for eliminating repetitive patterns in language models
There will be an intersection when the techniques and continued refinements in making tall tale signs of AI and new powerful model meets where it becomes very time consuming, expensive and difficult to tell between human generated and AI generated content.

We are already at a point where we can trick large number of the population, it can without a doubt close the gap even further where we question anything and everything.

Beyond forensics, which require large capital investment and operating costs, to be able to detect AI vs human content will be limited in terms of access. It will be so that its not that we can't detect AI content anymore its that most people cannot afford the service to detect it and thus they lose interest.

This has side effect of making live performances by humans scarce and in valuable.

jjangkke··on SpaceX disables 2,500 Starlink terminals allegedly used by Asian scam centers
I'm appalled that HN seemingly do not care about the human suffering that is going on in these medieval human slavery camps and instead focus on seemingly to regurgitate whatever talking points from their political leanings that were taught.

These "scam" centers kidnap, torture, even harvest organs from victims and have caused extreme violation of human rights but many of you seem more concerned with focusing your hatred towards Elon Musk or how your internet is being censored by this act.

Almost no modern telecom business will allow its customers to engage in terrorism and heinous criminal acts such as this.

This thread is the first time I am disgusted by HN users which in the recent years becomes indistinguishable from Reddit.

jjangkke··on SpaceX disables 2,500 Starlink terminals allegedly used by Asian scam centers
They target Korea and Japan as well. Thousands of Koreans have been kidnapped by this Chinese crime group. Voice phishing and now even kidnapping of children in South Korea by the same connected criminal syndicate has increased.

The hatred and suspicion towards Chinese is palpable and exploding into collective anger in Korea and Japan.

jjangkke··on AI has a cargo cult problem
I disagree with labeling AI to be a cargo cult. Crypto fits the description but the definition of a cargo cult has to imply some sort of ultimate end in which its follower's expectations are drastically reduced.

What AI feels like is the early days of the internet. We've seen the dot com bubble but we ultimately live in the internet age. There is no doubt that post-AI bubble will be very much AI orientated.

This is very different from crypto which isn't by any measure a technological leap rather more than a crowd frenzy aimed at self-enrichment via ponzi mechanisms.

jjangkke··on 4Chan Lawyer publishes Ofcom correspondence
Jokes aside, what on earth is going on with the UK?

It seems to have serious demographic issues and actual ethnic English are understandably angry at having been largely vilified as Nazis and far-right for wanting to protect their heritage and identity.

To reach into draconian surveillance and censorship to quell its own natives of the land who has lived there for thousands of years at the behest of those that have arrived from far away lands with a drastically incompatible culture with the British is a recipe for civil war.

jjangkke··on EVs are depreciating faster than gas-powered cars
The resale market isn't shaped by technology but market demand which you frame it narrowly to what you place value on.

Otherwise there is no reason for old Porsches and 90s Japanese cars to demand the sticker price they do now.

The people who are willing to pay more for a used car down the road aren't interested in EVs or mass produced ICE cars, if unique enough will continue to be in demand over EVs

ex) New porsche EVs losing value against ICE cars

jjangkke··on EVs are depreciating faster than gas-powered cars
that makes no sense. an EV that cost $50k with or without subsidy that now costs half that is depreciation.

What's more interesting from reading the discussion here is that the depreciation of EV goes beyond the battery and thermal/geographic tax its that there is nothing special from the car market point of view that suggests a mass produced EV should hold its value against some truly sought after ICE cars that offer a unique novelty.

Even the Porsche EVs have not held their value very well compared to their ICE cars. There is simply no appeal to taste when you have to generate ICE sounds via speaker and signals EVs aren't very fun to drive or offer much novelty beyond the fact that its an EV compared to ICE cars where each engine is unique to the maker and has ton of parts all synchronized into a controlled chaos.

jjangkke··on Video game union workers rally against $55B private acquisition of EA
i think the union here is overreaching and expectations are unrealistic.

the stakeholders/investors have priority here and they have sold the company to the highest bidder.

at this point anyone participating or showing support behind union is at risk of being profiled and black listed in the industry and not just EA.

its in their collective interest to setup in jurisdictions outside the US where labor laws make the latter illegal but certainly not in many parts of the world and jurisdiction arbitrage makes it a very real probability.

my advice to anyone working at EA or any unionized white collar jobs in this nidustry and relate to keep your heads down and don't post your thoughts in public.

jjangkke··on A stateful browser agent using self-healing DOM maps
is there an open source version of this in github? i think i've seen something similar.

one off putting thing about installing the extension is all the reviewers seem to be Indian and I've seen similar patterns across Google Reviews where there is a flood of reviews from Indian users and they are almost always fraud or some weird scam

not saying this is the case here but whenever I see a bunch of reviews from Indian names, it automatically makes me trust whatever service or product less just fyi.

jjangkke··on DOJ seizes $15B in Bitcoin from 'pig butchering' scam based in Cambodia
also this isn't a "lawless" region that OP is talking about they are in city centers in Cambodia and the Cambodian police and government officials are all getting paid off to let them operate freely.

it really is disgusting to see this level of corruption and that its going to have long term economic impact on Cambodia and Cambodians abroad.

jjangkke··on I almost got hacked by a 'job interview'
As the economy enters recession there's going to be more and more desperate people and criminals will exploit this.

As with OP's case, do not accept take home assignments unless they are FANG famous or very close to that.

In addition, opacity about opportunities should be #1 flag. There is no reason for someone serious to be opaque about filling a role and then increasing the amount of vetting. Also there is no reason to not telling you salary (this alone will help you filter out low paying jobs) for the same reason.

Usually hiring managers will look to always filter down list of candidates not increase them (unless they were lazy or looking to waste time).

jjangkke··on DOJ seizes $15B in Bitcoin from 'pig butchering' scam based in Cambodia
At this point its accurate to say the Cambodian leadership have completely been subjugated through corruption and that they are no longer running the country but Chinese OCGs who are affiliated with CCP and that they are probably influencing it at a state level on all matters.

We are seeing similar attempts in other Southeast Asian countries and even Korea but Cambodia seems like an outlier. It's sad that not enough of these subversive influence campaigns by China is being talked about here.

Once again, it is America leading the way and using its vast intelligence and military power to be a de-facto global police. Obviously DOJ acted because of Americans were victimized but in doing so have done what South Korean government failed to do.

Lot of heat and criticisms against South Korean government now and its embassy in Cambodia that have largely acted in negligence, even telling one of the victims to report it to Cambodian police and don't bother them.

jjangkke··on For centuries massive meals amazed visitors to Korea (2019)
ah you are an expert in Korea ;)

Korean peninsula has always been a target of invasion by its neighbors due to its fertile lands in the south west which produce majority of the rice compare to the rest of the country.

jjangkke··on For centuries massive meals amazed visitors to Korea (2019)
i been to a museum that showed what Koreans in the 16th century ate with and I was shocked to find how huge the spoon and bowls were. It's not uncommon to find very tall Koreans 6ft and up these days but they are eating a lot less so I wonder how they've become all so tall.

jjangkke··on Crypto Sees More Than $6B in Liquidations
Makes sense. Economic tit for tat. Crypto is a cable for moving money out of China and Russia and back into assets in the west mainly real estate hence the huge disparity between income and housing prices post Tether

What concerns me is China can absolutely trigger a market meltdown in equities as well especially pull the rug out from entire companies with a flip of a button ex) SVB

The timing of Xi Jinping's stroke 11 days before the 4th Plenum where a new leader is supposed to be announced, massive build up of military assets around Taiwan recently is not a coincidence

My money says China is getting ready to take Taiwan but not in the way many in the West envision in their WW2 fantasy.

I sold all my stocks. We are going to see assets across the whole sector correct even gold.

Also we might be seeing the start of the end of CCP.

it doesn't interfere with my enjoyment of Suno 5's output and enough for me to pay for it now.

Suno 6 should solve those issues.

jjangkke··on Suno Studio, a Generative AI DAW
Applying your logic, did you feel bad for seamstresses when industrial revolution took off? did you feel bad for hardware manufacturers in America when they were outsourced to China? Art is also a form of labor and whoever can produce quality at quantity wins. Idealizing art in some sort of religious idolation is just plain silly. We haven't had the Picassos or Mozarts or Oscar Peterson for quite some time now yet the world is just fine. People play playlists in front of millions of live crowd and get accolade for it vs real instruments. Times change, technology change and art changes.

You either adapt or go hungry just like everybody else and art shouldn't be exempt from the mechanics of supply and demand.

jjangkke··on Suno Studio, a Generative AI DAW
What's special about Suno 5 is that the songs are actually good to listen to in place of professionally produced songs. For example, my favorite genre is new jack swing and there is a very limited number of this genre as it was briefly popular during the 90s. Now I have an endless supply of it and you can't tell that its AI produced anymore. Sure to an expert they might be able to detect it but for consumers its just as good as spotify playlist.

This is the first time I'm actually paying for generated AI content because the value I get is immense. I really think we are headed towards and over supply of content where there will be more stuff to read, watch, listen with very real value in all of them.

This spells out the inevitable change in the labor market for content creators. There will always be value for human created content and some will make more money but it will always have the AI generated content generation competing with it to the point where it will be hard to stay ahead and eventually people will stop caring.

Case in point, I see some comments being snarkish towards Suno but for as a consumer I could care less if you put your soul and years into producing art vs the one I can get a lot of today and now especially when there is virtually no difference in quality.

Truly an amazing accomplishment from Suno team, and probably the first time I've subbed to a music service after decades of downloading mp3s, hunting down new songs to listen to on Youtube. Suno 'steamified" this process and while I will use youtube to discover new genre, I am spending now most of my time in Suno, listening to endless amount of the exact sound I am looking for.

jjangkke··on After getting Jimmy Kimmel suspended, FCC chair threatens ABC's The View
Overton Window shift basically. One side used cancel culture relentlessly for even the smallest slights. Now the other side is using the very same tactic. Many people who have kept out of the extremes have now shifted towards the right and those who ignore the shift are finding out the hard way.

I advise HN users who aren't aware of what's happening, read up on what Overton Window is and why its dangerous to continue posting the way you have without infosec.

You think you are posting only on HN but your posts are actually being distributed on other platforms by people who are very angry.

Users on Bluesky thought they were posting on Bluesky but they only found out too late, after they got fired because their political posts were being shared elsewhere.

There have already been few HN users who have been targeted for their radical views and have paid the price.

For your sake, please don't ignore this message.

jjangkke··on Chat Control Must Be Stopped
Weird the countries that are all in agreement with chat control all have migration/integration related problems now at odds with local european population that have grown fatigue to the excessive empathy and virtue signaling that have eroded their own identity and safety.

Could it be that this is a last ditched attempt to presumably stop a civil war that seems to be brewing by predominantly muslim vs european populations?

If this isn't a sign that the integration and the multicultural experiment has failed completely in Europe then I don't know what. A free democratic society that is peaceful would never need wide surveillance net like this.

It seems that non of the HN comments touch on the internal demographic tensions that has been going on for quite sometime. Western Europe and Scandinavia reminds me very much of Lebanon before civil war broke out between the Muslims and Christians.
