I do hate being tracked, but I have slowly started to like the connivence of it. Having all my information on Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, and everything else privacy has really gone down. If my Nexus 5x can save me time, I will sacrifice some privacy.
This relates to weight loss and the dependency on weight loss drugs. I see ads all the time for new weight loss supplements, or new workout machines, or fat burning belts. Stating that this will burn fat faster, with less effort. Society now thinks that in order to look fit you must take a fat burning pill, or some crazy concoction to actually loose weight. >We have left “the things worth doing” to others, on the poor excuse that others might be able to do them better. But in reality it just takes a healthy life style to be fit, so if loosing weight is worth doing, it is worth doing badly.
This reminded me of a startup idea that I have, I think one of the biggest items that could be rented out would be generators. Right before a storm hits deliver the generator and once power is back up, pick them up.
I could also talk about the first part too, like the video of the girl yelling at Nicholas is so interesting. You want to stand up for something, yet you cannot have a conversation about it and just yell at the man?
If I only have my phone which I have android pay on and I need to get something from a drug store, I would go to CVS but they don't accept NFC. So I will have to go to Walgreen's instead which is usually near a CVS. So I don't get why they don't offer NFC, because keeping 98% of the transaction amount is better than 0.
It seems that they love using the word "Friend". They also love using the word, "Chip" when they as for donations. Also marco robio is going with asking the citizens for a "Favor" and to donate $7 or more.
Pretty interesting stuff.
I was in line at 7-11 at my university, where an girl was trying to use the currentc app. She was 2 people ahead of me, when I went up to pay she was still trying to pay with the app. At first her screen was to dim, and the scanner would not read the QR code. Eventually she was able to pay, but I was already long gone by that time. If you look on the google play store it has a rating of 1.1 starts.
This is straight from its website,"Merchant Customer Exchange is the only merchant-owned mobile commerce network built to streamline the customer shopping experience across all major retail verticals."
With an app that rates 1.1 stars and no improvement, I don't think it cares about the shopping experience, and people will see this eventually.
I think someone mentioned it at least a year ago in a discussion about Uber vs. Lyft.
Koch is definitely having a impact on higher education, look at all the major universities he is involved in.
By the end of all my programming classes my fear was not that bad, but I still fear doing any hack-a-thons or anything like that, because I shoot myself down.
I am working on getting over that fear, but its good to know I am not the only one.
First Ill talk about the main line, it is a great place to grow up/ or live if you are in your mid to late 20s. From Ardmore, Lower Merion, Bryn Mawr, Malvern, Paloi, Exton, and continuing on to King of Prussia have a lot of great places to live and a lot of companies. Espically in Malervn their is a large presence of companies. I take the regional rail train from the suburbs into the city for school and it is super easy and kind of relaxing.
In the city, certain areas of the city are blowing up right now and it really is a fun place to live. I lived around 12th and Spring Garden and apartments were being built in every empty lot and there are so many young people its a great place to be. There is so many great bars to go too and amazing restaurants throughout the city its awesome.
I am working with a group for a project in our business ethics class and one of the topics that I wanted to cover was encryption and how to protect yourself and keep the government out. I know the chances of the FBI knocking on my door is slim to none, but I want to keep my self protected. Especially if I have an encounter with the police I know my rights with my technology and I do not want anyone in my information.
We ended up doing a different topic because one of the kids argued with me saying there's no reason to encrypt, the FBI wont come for you, and why wouldn't you just comply with their demands it makes you look guilty if you don't. He does not understand the fact that it is our personal right to protect ourselves, and that it does not matter if you are guilty or not you have rights to keep yourself protected.
I come from a police officer family and respect the police, but if a cop tells me to give him my phone or laptop they will never get into it.
I went on a rant, but it seems people do not understand security or personal privacy and they let others exploit this.
Also if you are a great programmer there are going to be other employment opportunities down the road for you.
OP, you have something a lot of people don't. Just Keep going.
You could use a beacon attached to a telephone pole, this is just some random idea, that will broadcast the location and push notifications. Or something in that nature, because I know retailers do this when you walk by a certain section and you have their app you will get a notification. So for public safety you could just have a app and if there is a crime that was reported, like a shooting, if you are within a certain block radius you get a notification.
This is something that I have thought about especially living in Philadelphia, constant crime is going on. I don't know what I am walking into or riding my bike into. It would be awesome to have updated information like this.
