jerrickhoang··on Ask HN: Those making $1,000+/month on side projects – what did you make?
what kind of website is that if you don't mind sharing
jerrickhoang··on I'm Peter Roberts, immigration attorney who does work for YC and startups. AMA
Hi Peter,

Thanks for taking questions. I'm currently on F1 OPT and just lost the H1B lottery. Was wondering if it's legal for me to apply directly for a GC instead. If yes, are there potential risks during the process and in the future. Thanks

jerrickhoang··on Lee Sedol Beats AlphaGo in Game 4
Ke Jie won 8 out of 10 when went against Lee though. Lee is probably not the strongest in the world right now.
jerrickhoang··on Twitter, to Save Itself, Must Scale Back World-Swallowing Ambitions
can you elaborate? what were the things that you really like that they took out? What have they added that you dislike?
jerrickhoang··on HN is in the same cluster as 2ch, not Techcrunch, on Twitter
I think a more interesting problem is not how you can differentiate a spambot with a 'non-spam' bot. I've seen some bots that are really creative and fun on Twitter. I guess it's not really hard to add it to a spam detection ML model
jerrickhoang··on The Decay of Twitter
amazing
jerrickhoang··on Twitter Names Jack Dorsey Chief Executive
> There is no barrier to entry into this space---any competent web developer could make a non-scaling Twitter in an afternoon---except network effects

As a backend engineer, I feel offended by this statement of yours.

jerrickhoang··on The model minority is losing patience
Yeah, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be more.
jerrickhoang··on Google is developing cancer and heart attack detector
And what is the worst thing that could happen?
jerrickhoang··on Amazon’s Twitch Acquisition Is Official
I wouldn't say gmail, maps, chrome, docs, calendar indicate 'their utter inability to effectively spinoff new products.' Also, buying a product doesn't mean you're done with it. I personally think what the folks at Android, Youtube and Nest etc have been doing is incredible.
jerrickhoang··on Google on Glass Backlash: 'Messy' But Worth It
when you're recording something the light is turned on and it's very noticeable.
jerrickhoang··on Quoc Le’s Lectures on Deep Learning
Quoc no longer works at Google.
jerrickhoang··on The Worst Programming Interview Question
I don't think interview must entirely be related to the practical world. I mean having a very hard and interesting practical problem is the best of both world but not necessarily the only way to go. If you want to know if the candidate can really build things you can check out his github/resume. I think the 45-min interview is just to determine how smart the candidate is. If you want to determine if someone is smart you put them in a very hard situation (not necessarily a practical one) and see how they reason about it.
jerrickhoang··on Goodbye Gmail
It takes 6 seconds for you to load Gmail? Where do you live? I feel sorry for you bro.
jerrickhoang··on HR leaked my salary. Now my team knows I make 3x they do
The guy uses his real name on brightjourney (also his entire profile is up) and now this post is on the front page of HN just makes things worse.
jerrickhoang··on Dear Google, Thanks For Copying My Startup But You’re Doing It All Wrong
This sounds to me like either a cheap marketing post or a terrible cover letter. No more.
jerrickhoang··on Show HN: Calculate full scholarships available based on your grades
well this is quite upsetting
jerrickhoang··on Chinese app aims to translate what your cat is trying to tell you
lol, this is funny, I like it =)
