jekwoooooe··on Nvidia won, we all lost
This guy makes some good points but he clearly has a bone to pick. Calling dlss snake oil was where I stopped reading
jekwoooooe··on Is an Intel N100 or N150 a better value than a Raspberry Pi?
Raspberry pi is fairly overpriced and doesn’t make sense unless you want to spend exactly 50$ for some reason

If you need gpio, you can probably get away with an esp32

If you want a server, n100 based computer will be better

jekwoooooe··on My open source project was relicensed by a YC company [license updated]
Title should be updated to make it clear this is an interview cheating project. It’s quite ironic
jekwoooooe··on EBAF – eBPF Based Ad Firewall
That doesn’t make any sense that’s like saying you should be allowed to trick your bank into giving you free money because you processed their website “in your network”
jekwoooooe··on EBAF – eBPF Based Ad Firewall
Not proposing a moral opinion but this is still piracy no matter how much they deny it. The contract with free Spotify is you receive ads.
jekwoooooe··on AI note takers are flooding Zoom calls as workers opt to skip meetings
I hope this finally ends meetings. Pretty much nothing ever needs to be a meeting. Everything can be decided async. Extroverts are the only ones demanding a meeting to hear themselves talk. I have yet to experience a single compelling remote meeting.
jekwoooooe··on Exploiting the IKKO Activebuds “AI powered” earbuds (2024)
It’s not sinophobia to point out an obvious pattern. It’s like saying talking about how terrorism (the kind that will actually affect you) is solely an Islamic issue, and then calling that islamophobic. It’s okay to recognize patterns my man.
jekwoooooe··on Exploiting the IKKO Activebuds “AI powered” earbuds (2024)
Good write up. At some point we have to just seize these Chinese malware adjacent crap at the borders already
jekwoooooe··on Effectiveness of trees in reducing temperature, outdoor heat exposure in Vegas
Because it starts with a consonant
jekwoooooe··on Many ransomware strains will abort if they detect a Russian keyboard installed (2021)
AS can also route and black hole traffic. There’s no real reason to continue allowing their traffic on the same internet when it’s all malicious
jekwoooooe··on Sam Altman Slams Meta's AI Talent Poaching: 'Missionaries Will Beat Mercenaries'
No no no don’t you get it they have this multi entity “non profit” and something something “capped profit” yet everyone is employed by the for profit. But they just want to give AGI for free right
jekwoooooe··on Sam Altman Slams Meta's AI Talent Poaching: 'Missionaries Will Beat Mercenaries'
OpenAI has no shot without a huge cash infusion and to offer similar packages. Meta opened the door.
jekwoooooe··on Sam Altman Slams Meta’s AI Talent Poaching: 'Missionaries Will Beat Mercenaries'
Allegedly they were offered 100m just in the first year. I think they will be fine
jekwoooooe··on YouTube No Translation
Hostile to you, but 99.99% of the user base prefers it that way I’m sure.
jekwoooooe··on Why Go Rocks for Building a Lua Interpreter
What’s missing? It has generics and robust typing. Man this website must be full of old geezers with all the go hate I see
jekwoooooe··on Why Go Rocks for Building a Lua Interpreter
Go can be way faster than those. Garbage collection is not an issue at all if you write efficient code

And the error handling is way better than catching stuff because it’s so explicit

jekwoooooe··on Why Go Rocks for Building a Lua Interpreter
Go rocks for pretty much everything
jekwoooooe··on IDF officers ordered to fire at unarmed crowds near Gaza food distribution sites
It seems civilized because comments that call out Iranian propaganda get flagged. Only one opinion is allowed on the internet. Israel is demonized beyond belief. No one talks about US aid to Egypt, a literal dictatorship, or Saudi Arabia, or the genocide in Yemen. Nope. Just Israel.
jekwoooooe··on Detailed findings on attacks carried out on and after 7 October 2023 in Israel [pdf]
Most people posting about Israel this Israel that couldn’t tell you one damn thing that happened on October 7. It is our 9/11. These brainwashed college kids don’t even realize how many college kids Hamas raped and murdered
jekwoooooe··on IDF officers ordered to fire at unarmed crowds near Gaza food distribution sites
Sure I definitely believe it. It’s definitely true. For sure.
jekwoooooe··on IDF officers ordered to fire at unarmed crowds near Gaza food distribution sites
There’s only one opinion allowed on the internet now. If Israel let a mob grab all the aid the news would slam them for not doing anything. The demonization is unreal. Meanwhile, Yemen killed and raped thousands of its own citizens and I haven’t seen anything about it of course. There’s an ACTUAL literal genocide happening in Yemen.
jekwoooooe··on IDF officers ordered to fire at unarmed crowds near Gaza food distribution sites
And why are they Israel’s problem to solve? What about Jordan who expelled EVERY Palestinian in 1970? What about Qatar? What about Egypt? Lebanon? Any Arab country???

Why is it Israel’s problem? There was a legal agreement in 1948. It could have been so simple.

jekwoooooe··on Reinforcement learning, explained with a minimum of math and jargon
It was a good read on the concept but I’m left unsatisfied by hand waving all the stuff. Like how, physically, is the reinforcement actually saved? Is it a number in a file? What is the math behind the reward mechanism? What variables are changed and saved? What is the literal deliverable when you serve this to a client?
jekwoooooe··on DeepSeek R2 launch stalled as CEO balks at progress
Ah well this time they can’t just illegally acquire a bunch of gpus and then just train a model from openai outputs. R1 was so overhyped
jekwoooooe··on Reinforcement learning, explained with a minimum of math and jargon
I don’t think it’s useful to explain things that are fundamentally mathematical by leaving out the math and tech. It’s a good article though
jekwoooooe··on Memory safety is table stakes
Go is fast and memory safe. It has some data race protections built in but doesn’t go as far as rust. This has its benefits like not having to deal with borrow checker insanity (or rust syntax for that matter)

Unlike python or java, it’s both compiled and fast

jekwoooooe··on Games run faster on SteamOS than Windows 11, Ars testing finds
They really aren’t. I used to think that but I actually enjoy skill based matchmaking. It makes game availability better and faster and I don’t have to deal with 1 outlier absolutely stomping or overzealous admins or whatever. I like both approaches though for something like battlefield I think dedicated servers are better but for things like cod, siege, etc we need sbmm
jekwoooooe··on Define policy forbidding use of AI code generators
Archaic:

Very old or old fashioned

jekwoooooe··on Games run faster on SteamOS than Windows 11, Ars testing finds
The goal isn’t to stop 100% of cheats but the majority of them and that’s fine. Either way, it’s the only thing stopping me from playing the rest of my games on steamos.
jekwoooooe··on Games run faster on SteamOS than Windows 11, Ars testing finds
The last missing piece for full Linux gaming is anticheat. Last I looked into it, the major vendors don’t want to support it due to lack of kernel security and the ones that do, game devs refuse to allow it (destiny for example)

One we can play AAA games I am literally ditching windows forever. Steamos is the best thing that has happened to gaming
