When I connect my iPhone 7 to my 2014 Prius via USB, it registers as being connected in iPod mode. This plays the first track, and then shuffles from then on. When I connect my iPhone 7 to my 2014 Prius via USB, it registers as being connected in Bluetooth mode.

This has less of the legacy cruft associated with iPod mode, and I don't have any of that weird behavior - when I connect in bluetooth mode, my iPhone 7 resumes play in the same way it would resume play if I connected a pair of headphones, swiped up from control center, and pressed play.

Life got a lot less frustrating when I realized there was a difference between the modes - now I use Bluetooth exclusively, and charge the phone with an Anker car charging adapter. Much better not having to hear the first song on my phone every time I plug in my phone while I am driving.

This is why I get so excited about the (very rich) iOS music ecosystem: Audiobus, Ableton Sync, etc. You can see what audio is flowing into what, you can use touch to change things, and you can use Bluetooth and MIDI to outsource controls to different hardware as needed.

I read the article on Chrome with uBlock Origin, and enjoyed commentary about ad blockers and anti-patterns between massive ads for Method dish soap the same size as the preceding paragraphs.

Not a fan of the 3D chart they used - lots of data gets hidden by towering spires, and the camera tilt adds its own bit of distortion.

3D Touch is to iOS as the Option key is to macOS.

Hold down the Option key and click on Airport or volume control to see what I mean in macOS. It gives you more information, and the information it provides is information you didn't necessarily need to have without holding down the Option key.

In airport, with the option key held, you see options to generate a wireless diagnostics report. Without the option key held, you can just switch networks. In the volume control, with the option key held, you can see options to change speaker outputs and mic inputs. Without the option key held, you just see the volume controls.

On iOS, with regular touch on the camera you get the camera. 3D touch - you get the ability to specify the camera you want before loading the app.

3D Touch is for iOS power users. Option key is for macOS power users.
